Fundraising efforts to restore Lincoln School launched

The Lincoln School Project aims to restore and reinvigorate the former school building at 1400 E. Pony Thomas St. in West Plains. Opened in the early 1900’s, Lincoln School was the reality of segregated education for Howell County’s African American residents.
Recently, West Plains residents Crockett and Tonya Oaks purchased the school building with the intention to restore it. In pursuit of this aim, they have launched the Lincoln School Project. This extensive project will rely on fundraising efforts.
“Your contribution will help Lincoln School Project restore the historic building and start providing education and community events,” reads the project’s website.
