Howell County Commission Activities

The Howell County Commission met on August 24 and 28.
On Thursday, the commissioners were scheduled to approve the abatement and additions of the July 2023 tax assessment as Order 2023-O11. Also on the schedule was signing the request for funds for the county’s generator grant, but this was rescheduled for Monday at 4:00 p.m.
The public hearing for the county’s submission of an application for the Fiscal Year Community Development Block Grant Disaster/Mitigation program (CDBG-DR 4317).
On Monday, the public hearing for the proposed property tax for 2023 took place at 1:00 p.m.
County Collector Janet Crow appeared before the commission regarding construction in the Collector’s Office. Collector Crow has been soliciting bids for work to upgrade security accommodations in the office.
Finally, SCOCOG was scheduled to appear to sign an agreement with Christos House. 
Commission meeting agendas regularly include approving accounts payable and recognizing any guests who appear.
Howell County Commissioners are Presiding Commissioner Ralph Riggs, Northern Commissioner Calvin Wood, and Southern Commissioner Billy Sexton. The Commission meets in regular session on Mondays and Thursdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Their meetings remain open during the lunch hour and are open to the public.
