Leonard Martin Benefit BBQ Results

The barbecue benefit for Leonard Martin had a “great turnout,” said Terry Daniels. The benefit was to offset Leonard’s medical expenses after an accident. Organizers cooked 26 Boston butts for pulled pork and served around 250 pounds of meat. Over 850 meals were sold, and attendees gave considerable donations on top of the cost of their meals.  The event raised a total of $13,755.71, with $11,080.71 from the barbecue plates and donations and gun raffle tickets raising $2,675. The gun raffle winner was Jason Jerrell of Summersville.
“I consider this event to be a great success, with the exception of running out of food Friday and Saturday by 3:00 p.m. It’s near impossible to anticipate the overwhelming support, so for this I apologize to those I had to turn away. Only in small communities will you see the compassion, love, and generosity I witnessed this weekend. Thank you on behalf of Leonard and myself. May God bless you all,” said Daniels.

Donations are still being accepted at West Plains Bank, Liberty Branch, during regular business hours, or at Daniels Alignment in Willow Springs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Checks may be made payable to Leonard Martin Benefit Account.
