Man charged with assaulting jailer

A West Plains man has been charged with a felony for allegedly assaulting a jailer.
Charges were filed this week against Dillion L. Stokes, 26, for an incident in the Howell County Jail on Aug. 10.
According to court records, Stokes reportedly assaulted an officer by kneeing him in the groin while attempting to free himself from other officers. The officers were trying to put Stokes in a restraint chair because he said he was suicidal.
Stokes was mailed a summons through first-class mail on the charge. He is scheduled to appear in Howell County court with Judge Robert David Ray on Oct. 13.
