Sixteen months since her original arrest, Kristin Irene Witt, of Kingman, Ariz, has been incarcerated for creating a substantial risk of injury or death to Willow Springs police officers. On April 28 2025, Witt resisted arrest for the illegal possession and use of marijuana. As previously reported by Howell County News, Officer Paden Turnbull and then-Sergeant Mike Zeller were attempting to handcuff her, which resulted in a struggle. During said struggle, Witt grabbed one of Officer Turnbull’s magazines, throwing it to the ground. Witt then attempted to pull Officer Turnbull’s service pistol out of its holster. At Witt’s disposition in November 2025, she received a sentence of three years' probation.
From the date of her disposition to the months before September 2026, she has either violated her probation terms or had a scheduled court appearance for those violations. On August 31, 2026, Judge Robert David Ray of Howell County sentenced Witt to two years in the Department of Corrections (DOC). Witt was transported by the Howell County Sheriff’s Department to the DOC on September 9.
