Pomona girl receives aviation award

Riley McReynolds, daughter of Earl and Jaci McReynolds of Pomona, has been awarded the Jeff Thompson/John Zook Aviation Award.
The $1,400 award is provided by the South Central Ozarks Chapter of the Missouri Pilots Association (MPA).
McReynolds, a 10th grade student at the Ozarks Christian Academy in West Plains is also pursuing her private pilot certificate with her instructor Scott Smith, West Plains. Her goal is to become a charter pilot making a lifelong career out of flying. McReynolds performed her first solo flight on November 21.
The South Central Chapter of the MPA was formed in 1989 for the West Plains, Mountain View, Willow Springs, Cabool, Houston, Mansfield, Thayer, Mountain Grove and Ava areas. The MPA encourages education and safety related to aviation by carrying on educational, civic and patriotic activities for its members and others.
