Recall Group Moves Forward

The efforts to recall the municipal officials who voted in favor of the mask ordinance in West Plains are progressing, said spokesman and West Plains resident Josh Spurlock.

“We filed the mayor's petition with the city clerk [November 20]. We are going to start collecting signatures this week...next week, we'll be running a larger campaign to gather more. We need about 750 total, and are even hoping to have a few events where people can meet us and sign it so to get many signatures at once,” Spurlock reported.

West Plains City Clerk Mallory Snodgras did not respond to a request for confirmation by press time.

The petitions for Councilmembers Josh Cotter and Jessica Nease cannot be submitted until 60 days have passed since the group’s formal request for their resignations.

Spurlock said gathering 750 signatures seems “definitely doable.”

The Petition Committee responsible for collecting valid signatures on the petition includes Spurlock himself as well as West Plains residents Clif Earls, Matt Trude, Travis McCallister, and Stacy McAllister.

The recall efforts are organized through the Facebook group, West Plains Recall.
