Recent “Attempted Child Abductions” A Misunderstanding

Parents should not worry about a recent story circulating online about attempted child abductions in Willow Springs. According to Police Chief Bryan Hogan, the situation that prompted one mother to warn her friends and neighbors was caused by an unusual misunderstanding. After officers responded and spoke with the individual who approached a child, it was learned there was no ill will or malicious intent. A teenager offered a child a chicken sandwich, but was not attempting to lure the child away.  Apparently, the teen had chicken sandwiches from McDonald’s to give away, and the child’s account of the interaction understandably caused concern, said Chief Hogan.
