School board candidates address chamber

Candidates for the Willow Springs R-IV School Board addressed the chamber of commerce last Tuesday. School board seats currently occupied by Mac Gum and Scott Foster are up for election. Both incumbents have filed to run again, and they are challenged by Roger Shanks. Voters will pick two of the three men for the board.

There is also a one-year term on the ballot currently held by Debbie Bryan. Bryan is running for the seat, and she is challenged by Larry Huitt and Meagan Jones. Only one person will win.

All six candidates spoke at the March chamber luncheon at Pizza Americana. They all gave brief personal histories for running and answered a couple questions from chamber members.

The candidates have been invited to participate in a candidate forum to be held at Grimes Auditorium later this month. The date will be announced at a later time. Readers are encouraged to submit questions in advance to editor@howellcountynews.com, and to submit questions on the night of the event.

The forum will be livestreamed on the newspaper’s Facebook page.
