TIF Commission Appointed in Willow Springs

With the likely impending creation of a Community Improvement District (CID) which will be funded by Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to accommodate Guffey Properties’ plans to build a Family Dollar on East Main St., the Willow Springs City Council appointed six individuals to the commission. Creating the TIF Commission is the first step toward the retail location opening in the blighted area of Main St.
The City Council passed an ordinance expressing their intention to move forward with the TIF/CID in the August meeting, and the possible candidates for the TIF Commission were discussed at that time.
A unanimously passed ordinance appointed the following individuals to the Commission for the length of time listed:
     Mayor Brooke Fair, four years
     Alderman Troy Yonker, four years
City Administrator Beverly Hicks, four years
City Attorney Zane Privette, four years
     Erik Montgomery, three years
     Kim Rich, three years

The function of the Committee will be to oversee and direct the creation of the TIF.
