Travis Smith, 2023 Alumnus of the Year

The West Plains School District proudly recognizes Travis Smith as the 2023 Distinguished Zizzer Alumnus of the Year. Smith, a 1986 West Plains High School graduate, has been chosen for this prestigious honor in recognition of his exceptional achievements and significant contributions to his community.
After graduating from West Plains, Smith earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Missouri and an MBA from William Woods University. He has always been a philanthropist in our community, giving back through his time, talents, and resources. He has served many years as a track coach for the award-winning cross-country team. Additionally, he spent many years giving Zizzer football play-by-plays on KKDY radio, sharing his love for sports with the community.
In 2020, Smith took on a new challenge and was elected District 155 Missouri State Representative. In this role, he has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents and bring positive change to the state.
The accomplishments of Travis Smith serve as an inspiration to all, epitomizing the spirit of a Zizzer. His unwavering commitment to his community, unwavering work ethic, and profound affection for his alma mater truly reflect his exceptional character.
