Two arrested in drug bust

More than 260 fentanyl pills seized
Police seized over 260 suspected fentanyl pills and over 39 grams of methamphetamine from a residence on Allen St. in West Plains as they served a search warrant. West Plains Police Department searched the home of Carrie McFarland, 62, last Tuesday, confirm court documents. The search warrant was based on “reliable information that illegal narcotics were in the residence.”
McFarland and another resident, James Quiroz, 41, were both arrested at the scene and subsequently charged. Quiroz requested an attorney immediately when questioned by police, but McFarland admitted to knowingly possessing the drugs.
Both suspects have recently moved to the area from Arizona, notes the probable cause statement.
On Wednesday, McFarland was charged with two counts of trafficking drugs in the second degree and one count of maintaining a public nuisance. Quiroz faces identical charges.
As of press time, both suspects are being held on a $50,000 bond each. There are currently no pending court dates in either matter.
