Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Swept a Wave of Patriotism through Willow Springs

Sergeant Shannon Crouch, Motorcycle Unit Supervisor, Troop D, Missouri State Highway Patrol led the escort of nearly 200 bikers who accompanied the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall from Thayer through Willow Springs on its way to Springfield.
Police and fire department vehicles lit up the overpasses in Willow Springs to show support for the bikers as they led the display through town. Despite unexpected delays from the rain and a lunch stop, the ardor of those who lined the highways stayed fresh until the escort drove through to the din of shouting voices and flashing lights. Participants universally described the event as a moving experience of the community coming together to show support for veterans and our nation.
