West Plains Police Department announces promotion of five officers

The West Plains Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of five officers. Chief Monticelli stated, “Promotions are always difficult when you have so many great employees.” The promotions were effective on Nov. 7.

Officer Trent Kinder is being promoted to Corporal/FTO. Corporal Kinder has been with the West Plains Police Department since July 8, 2010. He is currently a School Resource Officer, a SRT Team Officer, and a department Firearms Instructor. Corporal Kinder will serve as the supervisor of the School Resource Officer Program.

Officer Micah “Brent” McKemie is being promoted to Corporal/FTO. Corporal McKemie has been with the West Plains Police Department since April 2021. Brent is currently one of the two departmental Canine Officers. He is an active member of the SRT Team and continually strives to be the best in what he does. Corporal McKemie will be assigned second shift.

Officer Thomas Manning is being promoted to Corporal/FTO. Corporal Manning has been with the West Plains Police Department since July 2021. Manning had previously served years of experience with another law enforcement agency prior to joining the West Plains Police Department. Manning is a current member of the SRT Team and is a Pepper Gun Instructor. Corporal Manning will be assigned first shift.

Corporal Colter Reid is being promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Sergeant Reid has been with the West Plains Police Department since April 2020. Reid was promoted to the rank of Corporal in December 2021 and is an active Field Training Officer. Colter is a Team Leader on the SRT Team and holds instructor certifications in several areas. Sergeant Colter Reid will be assigned second shift.

Officer Aaron Galiher is being promoted to Detective. Detective Galiher has been with the West Plains Police Department since April 2021. Galiher came to the Department with extensive experience from the South-Central Drug Task Force and the Howell County Sheriff’s Department. Detective Galiher also serves as a Taser Instructor, Type II Supervisor. Detective Galiher will began his new role on Nov. 14.
