The holidays are upon us and the Willow Springs Public Library has more recipe, craft, and decorating books than you can shake a turkey drumstick at. From stuffing the bird and baking the pies to knitted stockings and ideas for magazine-worthy table settings- there’s a book for that. Christmas cookie recipes? We’ve got you covered in red sprinkles. Homemade ornaments? Bring on the glitter.
 
‘Tis also the season to curl up with a book. For those who enjoy Amish fiction, Promises of Tomorrow by Shelley Shepherd Gray, A Picture of Love by Beth Wiseman, and An Amish Christmas Wedding – a compilation of four stories by favorite authors including Amy Clipston have just arrived in time for hot cocoa weather. Debbie Macomber – the Queen of Holiday Romance – offers a collection of three stories titled Holiday Lights and Donna VanLiere, bestselling author of The Christmas Shoes, brings us The Christmas Table for 2020.
 
Mystery lovers, rejoice! The adventures of your favorite characters continue. There is a new Lincoln Lawyer novel by Michael Connelly, The Law of Innocence. Jack Reacher jumps into a new conspiracy in Lee Child’s The Sentinel. Agent Stephanie Plum is back in book 27, Fortune and Glory by Janet Evanovich. Detective Stone Barrington has a new case in Stuart Woods’ latest novel, Shakeup. And fans of Clive Cussler will enjoy the latest page-turner, Marauder, featuring Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon.
 
The holidays are the perfect time to create memories with your kids and grandkids. Come checkout a stack of children’s books for story time. We also have plenty of family favorites on DVD for movie night including Miracle on 34th Street, Emmet Otter’s Jug-band Christmas, March of the Penguins, Christmas with the Cranks, and The Nativity Story. Just make the popcorn and you’re set.
 
At the Willow Springs Library, Charlie Brown is celebrating Thanksgiving and the Grinch is plotting to steal Christmas. When you read a book, you can step off the Mayflower with the Pilgrims, visit the manger in Bethlehem, or take a flying sleigh to the North Pole – anywhere you want to go.
