WILLOW SPRINGS PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS

Snuggle-up-with-a-good-book-weather is officially here! If you haven’t been in the library in a while, it’s time for a visit. The library is open Tuesday through Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm and Saturdays 9am – noon. We will be closed December 23, 24 and 31 for the holidays. Follow us on Facebook for event reminders and winter weather closing updates. Visit us online at www.willowspringslibrary.org to browse the collection, contact us, see upcoming events and details about the services we offer.

Did you know that with a Willow Springs Public Library card you have access to nearly 4 million items? Thanks to our partnership with the Missouri Evergreen library consortium, if we don’t have it on the shelf, we can probably get it for you. Books, movies, TV series on DVD, audio books on CD, even Christmas music albums are all waiting for you. Card-holders also get free access to Libby; a digital library of e-books, e-magazines, and digital audio books for that holiday trip coming up.

If you live in the city limits of Willow, your library card is free! Beginning January 2023, out-of-town cards will be $15 annually. That is still less than the price of a single hardcover book on Amazon. We’re all looking for ways to save money these days, right? Why buy or rent books and movies and Netflix when you can check out millions of items for free? Just bring a photo ID and a recent utility bill and we can set you up.

New this month – you can now check out bird watching kits! Do you have a bird feeder for our feathered winter visitors? Get a close-up view and learn more about them when you check out this kit that includes 2 binoculars and bird field guides. They’re great for kids or adults.
New books this month – Nightwork (Nora Roberts), Boys From Biloxi (John Grisham), The Heathens (Ace Atkins), Happily Ever Amish (Shelley Shepard Gray), Mad Honey (Jodi Picoult), Every Summer After (Carly Fortune), Dreamland (Nicolas Sparks), Mean and Evil (Wm. Johnstone), By Way of Deception (Amir Tsarfati), Desperation in Death (J.D. Robb), Falling Stars (Fern Michaels), Treasure State (C.J. Box), The Best Is Yet To Come (Debbie Macomber), Overkill (Sandra Brown), Marple – 12 New Agatha Christie Mysteries (various authors).  For a complete list of all new releases visit willowspringslibrary.org.

When you stop by the library, take a moment to consider a Christmas gift for the community from the Library Giving Tree. You can be a secret Santa for a senior citizen or help sponsor a library program for 2023. “For it is in giving that we receive,” said Saint Francis of Assisi. A gift to the library is a gift that the whole community, (including the giver), gets to receive. Thank you for being part of the Willow Springs Library family in 2022. We wish you a very joyful Christmas and a well-read new year!
