July 29

A two-vehicle accident was reported on East Main. One involved party was arrested at the scene for driving while revoked and an active Douglas County warrant. A blood sample was taken at the scene, as the driver seemed to be under the influence of alcohol. Further charges will depend on the test results. 

A report was received of children having a verbal argument on North Pine. Civil remedies were given.

A man was reported going to vehicles and asking for items at Love’s. Contact was made with the man, who stated that he was trying to get a cigarette and that he would be leaving with his sister, who he was waiting for. 

Medical assistance was requested for a male subject at McDonald’s. The man stated that he had taken methamphetamine earlier in the day. The man was taken by ambulance for medical treatment, and the West Plains Police Department was contacted about an active warrant that the man had. 

July 31

Several children at the city pool were stating that there was a cat in labor. It was determined that the cat was panting, due to the heat. 

A report was received of a male subject who was possibly having a seizure at Love’s truck stop. The man was transported by ambulance. 

A trucking company contacted the police department, stating that their driver had passed away while on the road. GPS indicated that the driver’s truck was at the Love’s parking lot. The trucking company needed to confirm the location of the truck, so that they could retrieve it. The location was verified. 

The pastor of the First General Baptist Church reported that catalytic converters were stolen from two of the church vans.

August 4

A verbal domestic was reported at a home on State Route 76. Contact was made with the involved parties. A female subject stated that she was gathering her belongings, so that she could leave the residence. The woman requested that the officer remain on the scene while she gathered her belongings. 

A truck driver was seen purchasing alcohol and consuming it. Contact was made with the driver, who stated that his shift had ended, and that his wife was coming to pick him up. The driver’s information was recorded.
