Schmitt Named WSHS Principal

The Willow Springs R-IV School District announced on Feb. 21 the promotion of Nick Schmitt to the position of high school principal, effective August 1, 2022.

The decision is pending school board approval, said school board president Tony Friga. He fully expects the school board to approve the hire at the March school board meeting. Friga hopes to vote on a candidate to replace Schmitt in his former position as assistant high school principal in the March meeting as well.

Schmitt has served as the Willow Springs High School Assistant Principal for the last five years. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Missouri State, a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Missouri, and a Specialist Degree in Administration from Arkansas State. “Mr. Schmitt's commitment to students, staff, and proven leadership abilities will serve him well as he leads Willow Springs High School in preparing students to be success ready graduates,” reads the district’s announcement.
