Incidents
April 4
A window was broken on a company vehicle of a business on East Main Street. An employee’s purse was stolen from the vehicle, and the suspect had attempted to use a credit or debit card from the purse at a local store. The investigation continues.
A theft was reported on the 1200 block of Porter Wagoner. The matter is under investigation.
A male subject came to the police department to report a stolen credit card. The investigation is ongoing.
An officer was dispatched to Ozarks Healthcare for a suspicious incident involving a juvenile. The incident was investigated and closed.
A male subject who was previously trespassed from a business on the 130o block of Preacher Roe was reported inside the business. Charges are being sought.
A physical assault was reported at the North Snappy Mart on Porter Wagoner Boulevard. A male subject fled when an officer responded but was located near the business. Charges were forwarded to the municipal prosecutor.
April 5
Counterfeit currency was reported at the Snappy Mart on the 500 block of Porter Wagoner Boulevard. Three $100 bills were seized, and a male suspect was identified.
A male subject with an active warrant was taken into custody on Lanton Road.
A theft was reported on the 1100 block of Kentucky. A report was completed.
A verbal domestic disturbance was reported on Anne Street. Both parties separated.
A suspect in a domestic assault was taken into custody after the victim reported the incident at the West Plains Police Department. The reporting party suffered minor injuries from the incident.
An individual reported a lost wallet.
An officer responded to a wrecked motorcycle on U.S. Highway 63 that was being pursued by another law enforcement agency.
Officers responded to the Snappy Mart at the junction of U.S. Highway 63 and State Route 14 in reference to a shooting. A male victim had been shot numerous times and was taken to Ozarks Healthcare, where he was pronounced deceased. A suspect was identified and placed on hold, pending charges of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
April 6
Property damage was reported at a building on the 200 block of 3rd Street. Two windows were shot with what appeared to be a BB or pellet gun.
A male subject was taken into custody in the Southern Hills area on an active felony arrest warrant. The subject was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Formal charges are being sought.
Officers made contact with a male subject who had been squatting in a vacant home on North Utah and had valid warrants. The man was arrested at the scene.
A lost credit card was found at a business on the 1500 block of Preacher Roe.
A missing juvenile was reported on Walker Street. The juvenile was located a short time later and returned safely to family.
April 7
A theft was reported on the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue. The investigation continues.
A report was received of a male subject entering storage units on Myrtle Street. A male subject was placed in hand restraints, but then fled from officers and was unable to be located. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office for escaping from custody, resisting arrest and stealing.
A female subject was arrested at the probation and parole office for active warrants.
A verbal domestic was reported on the 1100 block of Allen Street. A report was taken.
A deceased elderly male was located during a well-being check on Walnut. The man reportedly had multiple health issues.
A male subject was taken into custody on Gleghorn on an active arrest warrant.
Property damage was reported at the Snappy Mart at the junction on U.S. Highway 63 and State Route 14. A female suspect was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. Charges are pending.
April 8
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Baxter Street for a report of suspicious circumstances. A report was taken.
A female juvenile came to the police department to report unwanted sexual contact. The case is under investigation.
A missing person was reported from the 300 block of Walnut. The investigation is ongoing.
A bicycle was reported found at the Casey’s on Saint Louis Street.
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Oden for a report of child abuse. An investigation concluded that no abuse had taken place, and the juvenile needed a mental evaluation.
Several items of found property were turned in at the police department. The items were placed in evidence for safekeeping.
Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located by K9 Loki during a traffic stop on Ramseur Road.
April 9
A traffic stop was conducted after a pickup was observed driving erratically on Bill Virdon Boulevard. The driver was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The driver was issued citations, with formal charges pending.
A domestic assault was reported at a home on Cherry Street. A female subject sustained several injuries. A male subject was arrested, with charges pending for second degree domestic assault and child endangerment.
A business on the 100 block of 2nd Street reported that someone had broken into the business and taken items. The case is under investigation.
An abandoned bicycle was reported on 2nd Street. The bicycle was placed into evidence.
A runaway male juvenile was reported at Hampton Inn. The juvenile was located walking north on U.S. Highway 63 and was returned to his family.
A woman reported that her banking information had been fraudulently obtained in a telephone scam.
Property damage was reported at a business on 2nd Street. The business owner stated that vehicles in the parking lot had been damaged, and a stereo had been stolen from one of the vehicles. The investigation continues.
A male subject reported that a bill he obtained from an ATM was counterfeit. The bill was placed into evidence.
A driver was cited for driving while revoked, during a traffic stop at East Main and Saint Louis Street.
A driver who was involved in a one-vehicle accident at Ozarks Healthcare was found to be under the influence. The driver was cited for driving while intoxicated.
A caller reported that a loud verbal altercation was occurring on Amy Street, in which a male subject was refusing to let multiple female subjects leave. Upon arrival, it was determined that the reporting party was having vivid hallucinations and was taken to Ozarks Healthcare.
April 10
A male subject was transported from a residence on Debra Drive to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation.
A female subject came to the police department to turn herself in on active warrants. The woman was transported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
A male subject was reported causing a disturbance on Joe Jones Boulevard. The man was taken into custody on a 12-hour detox hold.
