Calls For Service

May 15

While conducting a business check on Preacher Roe, Officer Martin observed spray paint on multiple vehicles on the business lot. Six vehicles were vandalized. The investigation is on going. 

Officer Joel Lovelace responded to Thayer Avenue for a report of a physical domestic assault in progress. Upon his arrival he determined no physical assault occurred.

Officers responded for an assault located on Olden. Reportedly the suspect struck the victim on the head. This case is still under investigation. 

Officer Stephens took a report of possible elderly abuse at a residence on Walnut. An investigation is currently ongoing.

Officer Stephens responded to S. Thayer for a report of vandalism. He found damage to the victim’s vehicle.

Officers responded to Kody Drive for a Burglary in progress. Prior to officers arrival the suspect had fled the scene. A Probable Cause Statement will be completed and forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office Seeking charges for this incident. 

Officer Brent Keepes responded to Holiday Lane to speak with an individual regarding property damage to a vehicle. He found a vehicle in the area of Kissinger had four tires cut. 

May 16

Officer Heuchelin responded to Dana St, in reference to a domestic.

Officer Keepes responded to South 63 Motors regarding property damage. Investigation learned that multiple vehicles were damaged. The case is being further investigated. 

Officers responded to Durham Building Supplies regarding property damage. Officer Keepes learned that the building had been spray painted. The case is being further investigated. 

Sgt. Colter Reid responded to W Leyda Avenue in reference to a report of an assault. The subjects separated with no issues.

Officers responded to Dollar General Store #14939, located on Bill Virdon Boulevard in reference to a report of shoplifting in progress. Two individuals were taken into custody for Stealing merchandise from the store. 

May 17

Officer Ivie Powell responded to Broadway in reference to property damage to a company vehicle. He spoke with the reporting party who advised he noticed the company vehicle had been spay painted. This matter is considered open and under investigation. 

Animal Control Officer Brad Jones responded to a residence on Preacher Roe for peace disturbance. A neighbor next to the reporting party owned roosters and they crowed during all hours of the day and evening. The reporting party complained of the long term issue and signed a formal complaint. ACO Jones contacted the owner of the roosters and issued a complaint for peace disturbance. 

Corporal Micah McKemie responded to Courtsquare in reference to a property damage incident. The case is under investigation. 

Cpl. McKemie took a report of property damage on Preacher Roe Blvd. The case is under investigation.

May 19

Officers responded to Broadway Ave. in reference to an alarm call. Officers located an unsecured building.

Officer Robert Shell responded to a call for parental kidnapping. The victim stated his ex-girlfriend had left their residence near Ginger Dr. with their two children and moved to Kentucky on January 2, 2023. An investigation has been completed and forwarded to the prosecutor's office. 

Officer Keepes responded to Lanton Road for domestic violence. He learned that a disagreement occurred between siblings. No charges are sought. 

Officer Keepes responded to the West Plains School for a child custody agreement violation. He learned that the parents had a disagreement, the children were given to the proper parent according to the custody agreement. 

Cpl. Stuart responded to Cass Avenue for a disturbance. While investigating the incident an individual advised they felt suicidal. HE contacted EMS for a 96 hour mental health evaluation. While attempting to transport the individual they became violent and assaulted an officer and EMS staff. A Probable Cause Statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office seeking charges for the assault on a special victim. 

May 20

Cpl. McKemie and Officer Austin Deshazo responded Doctors Drive regarding an open door alarm. They found a door left unsecured and cleared the building. 

Cpl. McKemie took a report of a domestic incident between a parent and child. Charges are pending until all parties can be contacted.

West Plains Police Department, West Plains Fire Department, and Howell Rural Fire Department responded to State Route BB in reference to a one vehicle accident. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. 

Officer Jacob Miller responded to College St. for an alleged sexual abuse. This case is still under investigation. 

May 21

Officer Miller took a report of individuals attempting to purchase goods with counterfeit currency.
