June 1

Officers responded to the city pool for a report of an individual drinking. They had to escort the individual from the premises. 

June 2

Officers received a complaint of vehicles parked in the roadway on Trimble Drive. The caller reported the residence for conducting a yard sale without a permit.

Officers assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle on US 60/63. They controlled traffic and called for a tow truck.

Officer Wade Bloomer assisted a driver with a disabled vehicle on at the US 60/63 junction. 

Officers were called to Love’s Travel Stop for a dispute between two drivers. The individuals involved described a driving incident prior to their arrival at Love’s. Officers advised they separate. 

Officer Cary Gates conducted a security check at the pool while in operation.

June 3

Animal Control Officer Mark Templemere responded to a report of an overheated dog in a vehicle. He found the engine running and windows open. The dog was not in distress.

Officers received a request for a wellbeing check of an individual acting suspiciously near Sacred Heart Church. The individual relayed to Officers Cronin and Bloomer that she had just left church services.

Officer Jake Cronin responded to a sighting of flames at Center and Tenth Streets. Investigation found a controlled burn. He advised the homeowner how to properly report a controlled burn to avoid further confusion. 

During routine patrol, a deer struck the side of Officer Gates vehicle near Midwest Walnut.

June 4

Officer Ryan McGinnis assisted EMS with contacting the patient’s family member.

June 5

Officer David Hocking received a wellbeing check request for dogs in a kennel on E Sixth Street with no food or water. He found the dogs not in distress with available food and water.

Officer Joe Barnhouse assisted with traffic control for a disabled truck on the off ramp to Industrial Drive.

Officer Hocking assisted the highway patrol with a non-injury vehicle accident.

Officer Barnhouse received a request for a wellbeing check of an individual on East Main. The caller reported the individual would not answer the phone. Officer Barnhouse did not locate anyone home at the time. Later, the individual reported that they were home safe after being at the river with no cell service.

Officers received a request for assistance at Jasper parking lot for a possible dispute. They called back to relay the incident passed without issue.

June 6

Animal Control Templemere received a report of a dog and puppies in the road near Hank’s Garage. 

Officer Struble assisted HCSO Deputy with juveniles found at Booster Field well after curfew. They returned the juveniles to their residences and contacted all parents.

Officer Barnhouse received a wellbeing check request on an individual calling into Behavioral Health Care when they were having phone issues. The individual related that they had a medication issue only.

Officers received a report of an individual walking in the middle of Z highway. They located the individual and gave a courtesy ride.

Chief Wes Ellison received a call of a suspicious individual in the ditch at Dollar General. Investigation found the subject to be a suspect in a local burglary. 

June 7

Officers Cronin and Barnhouse took a report of burglary from West Fourth Street. The caller stated someone entered the residence and took a doorbell camera and cell phones. He also reported the camera to be still recording. Officers advised the caller to download the video and turn it in to officers to further the investigation.

Officers responded to State Route 76 for a wellbeing check. They called EMS to check the individual. The individual refused care.

Officers received a report of an out-of-control juvenile. Officers responded and found the juvenile cooperative. The juvenile’s mother arrived and took them home.

June 8

Officer Bloomer assisted with a call of harassment.
