Calls For Service

June 5

Officers responded for a report of a shoplifter on Broadway. The suspect reportedly took a bottle of alcohol without paying for it. They later located and arrested the suspect. This case will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor’s Office for review.

June 5

Officer Whitley Clark took a report of domestic assault.

Officer Ivie Powell responded to Kentucky Avenue in reference to a theft report. The reporting party advised a subject selected an item from the liquor department and concealed the item. They stopped the person within the store, and they were arrested and transported to West Plains Jail.

Officer Jerry Mingus took a report of a domestic assault.

Officer Mingus took a report of money stolen from an EBT card.

Officers responded in the area of South Thayer Avenue regarding an assault. Investigation learned that a suspect assaulted another individual with a weapon. They also the suspect into custody and placed on them a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.  

June 6

Officer Powell took a report of a private property accident with one vehicle leaving the scene.

Officer Austin Deshazo responded for a report of assault. He met with an individual reporting an earlier assault. The victim did not want to file charges.

Officer Jacob Brixey responded to Myrtle Street for an individual unable to retrieve personal property. The parties agreed to separate for the night.

Officer Deshazo responded to Sixth Street for a report of domestic assault. Neither party wanted to pursue charges.

Officer Deshazo responded to Lanton Road for a report of a domestic assault. He learned a boyfriend had assaulted his girlfriend, causing injury. Investigation found a child living in unsanitary conditions and took the child into protective care. He arrested the suspects, and charges are being sought.

Officer Martin responded to West Leyda for a report of stealing. Officers identified a suspect and charges are being sought.

Officer Heuchelin took a report of harassment.

June 7

Officer Heuchelin took a report of damage to a vehicle.

The Ozark County Sheriff Department requested digital forensics be conducted on a cellular device as part of an ongoing investigation within their jurisdiction. Detective Joe Neuschwander completed the process, and the device and forensic report were provided to the case agent. 

The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force, HSI - Springfield, and the Taney County Sheriff Department, served a residential search warrant concerning the sexual exploitation of children on Eagle Rock Road in Branson. The investigation is ongoing.

Officer Deshazo responded to Opal Avenue for a report of a domestic situation. Investigation found only a verbal dispute. One individual left for the evening.

Officer Deshazo responded to Bill Virdon Blvd for a report of stealing. He made contact with the store manager who provided video footage of the stealing incident along with a receipt for the stolen items. The investigation is considered open pending identification of the suspect. 

Officer Keepes responded to East Olden for a report of stealing. The caller reported money taken from a residence. The incident is considered open and on-going.

Officer Deshazo responded to Porter Wagoner Blvd for a report of intoxicated juveniles. He found a severely intoxicated juvenile. The case is being forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile Officer for review. 

Officer Deshazo responded to West Broadway for a juvenile problem. He observed two intoxicated juveniles. The case will be forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile Office for review. 

June 8

Officer Clark responded to West Plains Bank and Trust Company for report of stealing. This case is open for further investigation. 

Children's Division received a Child Abuse Hotline Report indicating that an educator of the West Plains R-7 School District had physically assaulted a student. The matter is under criminal investigation. 

Officer Robert Shell received a report of stealing. He arrested a suspect.

Officer Brixey responded to the West Plains Police Department for a report of a subject yelling and cursing at the Police Dispatchers and citizens in the lobby. Officers arrested the subject and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges in the West Plains Jail. 

Officer Miller responded to Missouri Avenue for trespassing, property damage, and careless and reckless driving. He identified a suspect and charges have been forwarded to the Municipal Prosecutor.

June 9

Officers observed multiple items blocking the roadway at the intersection of Porter Wagoner and Broadway. An investigation will continue into the origin of the objects. 

Officer Shell took a report of a stolen animal. 

Officer Mingus responded to W First street for a possible runaway juvenile. This matter is still under investigation. 

June 10

Sgt. Wichowski responded to Missouri Avenue for a report of an individual driving recklessly through the yard of the residence. Investigation found numerous previous harassment attempts by the same individual. Officers later located the suspect and placed them under lawful arrest for Harassment 1st Degree and remains in custody on a twenty-four-hour hold. 

Officers responded to a call for stealing not in progress. Both parties were separated, and the property returned.

Officer Lovelace responded to People’s Park to speak with a subject requesting information. The subject had previously been trespassed from the property. Officer Lovelace issued a citation for trespassing.

Officer Lovelace received a report of shoplifting from Dollar General. He identified a suspect and issued a citation for stealing.

Officer Deshazo responded to Westmont Street for a report of a disturbance. He found there had been an altercation between a juvenile and his caretaker. A report was taken and referred to the children division. 

Officer Miller responded to Curry St. He learned that a suspect brandished a knife and attempted to stab two others. Officers apprehended the suspect and is being held pending formal charges. 

Officer Heuchelin responded for a Domestic Assault in progress on 6th Street. Officers took a subject to jail and is pending formal charges.

Officers responded to Missouri Avenue in reference to a report of an unconscious individual. Medical personnel rendered aid and later transported them to Ozarks Healthcare for further treatment. 

June 11

Officers located a stolen vehicle and arrested two subjects. The subjects were placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.  

Officers responded to East Main for a report of a physical domestic. Dispatch advised officers that a subject on scene had a firearm and discharged it during the altercation. Officers arrested the subject and transported them to the West Plains Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. This report will be forwarded to Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for review. 

Officer Lovelace responded to Olden Street for a report of a burglary not in progress. The incident is open and under investigation. 

Officer Brixey responded to Simpson Street to a report of a domestic assault. Officers took a subject into custody and placed on a 24-hour hold for second degree domestic assault. 

Officer Mingus responded to Gibson Ave for a two-vehicle accident. One driver fled the scene. Officers identified the subject closing the case.
