Calls for Service

June 9

Sgt. Joby Hoopes received a call from E. Valley of someone trespassing and entering a vacant residence. He cleared the residence and did not locate anyone.

Officers received a call of an individual lying on the floor of the laundromat. They spoke to the individual and advised them not to bother the other patrons.

Officers received a call of an intoxicated individual in the lobby of West Plains Bank. The individual left prior to officers' arrival. They advised the bank employees how to trespass the individual. Officer Struble located the individual, and advised them of the trespass order. 

Officer Cronin spoke to an individual regarding a complaint of harassment.

Officer Cronin assisted in settling a neighbor dispute. 

June 10

Officer Cronin responded to a request for a wellbeing check. He found the individual safe. 

Officers responded to a request for a wellbeing check on East. Main. They found the individual upset, but not requiring assistance. 

Officer Cronin responded to Hill Street for an individual that had fallen and concerned about a dog running loose. He secured the area and assisted the individual.

June 11

Officer David Struble responded to a report of a disturbance.

Officer Ryan McGinnis responded to Pine Street for a domestic assault. He separated the two and informed them of the 12-hour rule.

Officer Hocking responded to a possible overdose. He located the subject in a vehicle who seemed very confused. EMS transported the subject. 

Officers responded to North Pine for a report of an altercation. The two subjects involved had differing stories. No charges will be filed at this time. 

Officer Bloomer assisted EMS with a medical call. He located a family member to relay the information. 

June 13

Officers received multiple complaints of a person going through dumpsters from which they previously trespassed. Officer McGinnis offered the individual a ride to a shelter, but they refused.

While on routine patrol, officers found two 13-year-old juveniles walking over the viaduct. Officer Barnhouse could not get in touch with the parents. He and Officer McGinnis took the juveniles to their residence, advising the parents of the incident. 

Assistant Chief Alan Lewis received a call from E. Third Street regarding suspicious circumstances. The reporting party advised an individual asked to borrow a shovel and then noted they dug in the cemetery and buried something bloody, marking the site with a stick. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Investigation Unit documented the discovery of the object. They found a small, deceased animal. A search of the area did not locate the human subject. 

Officer Barnhouse assisted an individual with a possible violation of a protection order. 

Officers responded to the area of Harris and Valley Streets for a possible domestic situation. They located the subjects, who agreed to separate.

Officers performed a wellbeing check on W. Fourth Street. They found the individual safe.

Officer Hocking responded to a report of a dog bite. He did not locate anyone at the residence. Investigation found a dog licensed to the residence. The investigation is ongoing. 

Officer Hocking responded to a report of a car alarm. He found the owner at the vehicle stating they had set it off accidentally. 

June 14

Willow Springs Police Officers responded to E Valley for a report of harassment. Upon arrival, officers found an intoxicated subject trying to commit suicide by law enforcement. They took the subject into custody without incident and transported them to West Plains Hospital for a 96-hour mental evaluation.

Chief Ellison spoke with a parent of a juvenile working at Pizza Americana. They reported individuals entering the business and causing female employees to feel unsafe. Chief Ellison advised the parent of judicial remedies. 

Officers responded to Willow Springs Apartments for a report of gunshots. Investigation found no evidence of gun activity. 

Officer McGinnis removed debris from the roadway near Snappy Mart.

June 15

Willow Springs Police responded to a call of a domestic in progress. They identified the aggressor, and Sgt. Hoopes issued the subject a citation.

Officer Cronin responded to a complaint of loud music on Short Street. He advised the individuals to be respectful of their neighbors. 

Officer Cronin responded to a report of threats. He advised one subject to leave the residence. Both parties agreed to separate.
