HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF

The West Plains Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Facility (1853 Old Airport Road, West Plains) is a service designed for residents of the West Plains community and the South Central Solid Waste Management District, which includes counties of Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas, and Wright. It provides a safe way to dispose of hazardous household waste, such as paint thinners, pesticides, auto products, and cleaners, which can be harmful to human health and the environment. Residents must package their waste in sturdy, non-leaking containers, preferably the original ones, and clearly label any non-original containers. Mixing different types of waste in the same container is strictly prohibited.

This service is free for residents, thanks to support from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the South Central Solid Waste Management District, and the City of West Plains. Hazardous waste from businesses is not accepted. If you have specific questions about acceptable waste or need to schedule an appointment, you can contact the facility at 417-255-2330.
