The Lincoln School Project recently announced their program of June events at the Historic Lincoln School, located at 1400 Pony Thomas St. in West Plains, Mo.
A Juneteenth Celebration will take place on Thursday, June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as the Lincoln School Project hosts the Milly Sawyer Project. This program will honor the courageous story of Milly Sawyer, an enslaved woman in Springfield, Mo., who bravely fought for her freedom. The event will feature a video presentation followed by a panel discussion that delves into her legacy and impact on our community and beyond.
On Saturday, June 21, the Lincoln School Project, in collaboration with Ozark Kids Dentistry, invites you to the unveiling of "Just Kids," a stunning mural created by artist Paul Jones. Jones will be on hand to provide details about the creative journey while creating this must-see masterpiece. The unveiling and book reading will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Additionally, the event will feature a book reading and signing by former West Plains residents and sisters, Triston Towns and Lacy Howard (DeSisso). Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase their acclaimed books and support these Zizzer alumni.
