Local car dealership name used in scams

The Willow Springs Police Department (WSPD) is warning the public about a scam fraudulently using a Willow Springs car dealership’s name. The department has received several reports of a fake website using the name of J&G Auto Sales in Willow Springs. Citizens have already been victimized and lost money to scammers, announced the police department’s release. 

 

J&G Auto Sales is in no way affiliated with the fraud. Their phone number is 417-469-4136.  “If this number does not appear on your phone [while communicating with the dealership], you are more than likely being scammed,” announced WSPD. 

 

The false website is jgautosales.us. The local business does not have a website. 

 

WSPD reminds the public of best practices for avoiding scams: 

-Don’t send money through gift cards

-Don’t give anyone you don’t know your personal information

-Never purchase gift cards in person for the purpose of reading serial/PIN numbers over the phone. These are scams.
