AmVets Post 98 Ladies Auxiliary raises money for school supplies

The AmVets Post 98 Ladies Auxiliary recently wrapped up a highly successful school supply drive, raising nearly $2,000 to support local students and teachers across Howell County.

Through the initiative, the Auxiliary provided around $300 worth of essential school supplies to three local schools: Howell Valley, South Fork, and Glenwood.

In addition to the campus supply deliveries, the Auxiliary launched a "Shop with a Teacher" program. Four local teachers were each awarded a $200 budget to purchase necessary classroom items. The teachers chosen were, Mr. Coursey, K–1st Grade, Howell Valley School; Mrs. Aid 5th Grade, South Fork School; Mrs. Jeckstadt 3rd Grade, Richards School; and Mrs. Smith 1st Grade, West Plains Elementary.

This couldn't have been done without strong community support. The Auxiliary had several fundraising projects including a meat package raffle donated by H&M Farms, change collection jugs hosted by local businesses, collection boxes at family dollar, 50/50 raffles, and fundraising meals.

The Auxiliary is now turning its attention to its upcoming holiday initiative, providing food and toy baskets for Howell County families in need.

Fundraising is already underway with a raffle for a flat-top grill donated by Hirsch Feed & Farm Supply. Raffle tickets are open to the public, and Auxiliary members will soon host a ticket-sales booth at Hirsch. The winning ticket will be drawn on December 9.
