Anna Elaine Townsend Pitts

Anna Elaine Townsend Pitts has fought long and hard for our Lord, and through it all she has kept true to him. And now the time has come for her to stop fighting and rest.  May 8th, 2026 she entered the arms of our gracious Father into her eternal resting place.  Elaine was born April 4th 1940 in Orange County, CA the eldest of 6 children, to James Kenyon and Anna Elsa (Dietz) Townsend.  After about 7 years the Family moved to what is been called the Farm is Willow Springs, Mo.  Which would become the family home even though they moved to Broken Arrow, OK.  Elaine was the first female in the State of Oklahoma to be a member of the FFA.  Her father had to get permission for her to join.  She also was the Dairy Princess in Broken Arrow OK. She attended Oklahoma A&M for a semester and decided that was not for her.  She also met and married James Robert Pitts on January 24th, 1959 and were married for 67 years.  Together having 3 children.

She was affectionally known as Elaine, Mom or Oma to all that knew her.  Elaine was the ultimate homemaker from helping to raise her siblings to building a home with Jim by hand and handling all the fun things a homestead needs along the way.  She loved to quilt but her favorite thing was finding the perfect fabric that she might use on a project later.  She would make homemade bread and it would be coming out of the oven hot ready when she knew family was coming to visit. She always made sure she had your favorite foods when you came to stay for a visit and man could she cook, bake and make you feel special.  Summertime when strawberries were fresh and abundant she would make strawberry jam, yum yum yum.  She loved having a garden to grow fresh vegetables and Jim made sure she had one right out the back down.  Raising chickens was something loved and hated to do but all enjoyed the eggs.

There are so many things that can be said about Elaine.  She taught us that any job you had do your best as if you were doing it for the Lord.  Throughout the years she worked several jobs outside the home.  One of her last phone calls was to a boss aka friend from the 60’s.  He said she was the best secretary that he ever had and she always knew what he needed before he knew.  Everyone that has learned of Elaine’s passing has had nothing to say, but how she positively influenced their lives.  She was always thinking of things to do for people to improve their lives without their knowledge.  God only knows all she did behind the scenes.  She also loved to pull a good prank.  A neighbor in Moore, OK who is now grown up was telling me about the prank she pull on Halloween on her.  What a laugh she is still having after all those years.  Elaine was a true believer in Christ our Lord and is now resting in His open arms.  We are so blessed to have had her as our example of how we should live our lives.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents and brother James Kenyon Townsend Jr.  She is survived by her husband of 67 years James Robert Pitts Sr of the home. Children James Robert Pitts Jr of Willow Springs, Terri Elaine (David) Wint of Oklahoma City, OK and Rebecca Anne Nail of Oklahoma City, OK.  Grand Children Christina Parker of Broken Arrow, OK, Crystal (Marcus) Thornton of Riverton, KS, Elizabeth (Bryson) Bunger of Oklahoma City, OK, Hannah Elaine (Jeremy) Rose of Oklahoma City, OK, Sarah (Da’Mone) Franklin of Oklahoma City, OK, Rachel (Stewart) Van Vliet of Moore, OK, and Trevor of Oklahoma City, OK.
