Glenna Louise Venn

Glenna Louise Venn, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Tuesday morning, September 29, 2020 while at Willow Care Nursing Home. She was born September 19, 1940 to Claude L. and Edith Margaret (Harmon) Kounter in Neodesha, Kansas and was 80 years old.
 
Glenna grew up and attended the schools in Neodesha. After graduating from high school, she took several Bible training courses in Texas; she also received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education. She then taught school for several years. Later, she became a CEO for a clothing chain for approximately 20 years. She married Harvey Duane Venn on June 2, 1980 in Miami, OK, and the two remained happily married for 40 years.  Harvey and Glenna were longtime members of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Hutton Valley. Glenna was highly intelligent and loved to read, especially her Bible. She excelled at storytelling, enjoyed entertaining, socializing, travelling, and visiting with her family. It has been said that she was very gracious and complimentary and simply loved people. However, her favorite pastime was writing letters. She wrote letters to all the members of her family. Glenna will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
 
Preceding her in death are her parents; two sisters, Nancy and Elizabeth; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harvey and Zella Venn; two brothers-in-law, Dennis and Charles Venn; three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Jackson, Kathy Moody, and Ruth Rodriguez; son-in-law, Tony Sanders; great-nephew Matthew Tice; and two great-great-nieces, Dakota and Scarlett Venn.
 
Glenna is survived by her husband, Harvey of the home; children: Rita Hallman and her husband, Terry of Goodwater, AL; Lisa Sanders, Brenda McDonald and her husband, Bryant, and Harvey Leonard Venn, all of Sylacauga, AL. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to The Gideons International and they may be left at the funeral home.
 
A memorial service for Glenna will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Westside Family Life Center in Willow Springs with Pastor Vernon Colbert officiating.
