Sidney Joseph Walters

Sidney Joseph Walters, 70, passed away on April 7, 2026, in Birch Tree, Missouri. He was born on October 31, 1955, in South Gate, California, to Phillip and Joanne (Smith) Walters. He graduated from Katoomba High School in 1973 and later earned a degree in Automotive Design and Performance from Chaffey College in Alta Loma, California. He married Venus Nelson in June 1986. Together, they built a life and raised three children.

Sid began his career as an automotive mechanic and worked for Crest Chevrolet dealership and later Paul Reed Buick dealership in California. In 1991, he moved to Missouri, where he worked for Coggins dealership in Branson. In 1994, he joined Bailey Chevrolet, and in 1998, he opened his own business.

He was best known as a skilled and dedicated auto mechanic, but those who knew him will remember much more than that. Sid had a passion for street bikes and dirt bike racing in his younger years, as well as skydiving and modifying every vehicle he owned to make them faster. He loved to travel and spent a great deal of time exploring Australia, Tasmania, and Papua New Guinea. He was also deeply interested in American history, ancient Egyptian history, and music, which he enjoyed as a way to relax and unwind.

He was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for and protect those he loved. He taught his boys about target shooting, the responsibility, and the safety of owning a firearm. He also designed and built the family home and his shop with his own hands. He enjoyed football, baseball, cricket, and Australian Rules football.

Sid is survived by his wife, Venus Walters; sons, Phillip and Joseph Walters; sister, Shari Hanna; stepsister, June Dowd; brothers, Kurt and Eric Walters; and sisters-in-law, Cassy Walters and Lauri Walters.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Joanne Walters, and daughter, Lisa (Walters) McIntyre.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Brake officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
