SUSAN ALICE LATHROP

Susan Alice Lathrop, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away early Monday morning, November 8, 2021. She was born April 30, 1948 in Renton, WA and was 73 years old. Susan spent the first four years of her life in an orphanage until her adoptive parents, Glenn Howard and Lois Virginia (Harper) Anderson decided to adopt Susan as well as her brother, Charles, so they wouldn't have to be separated and could grow up together.

Susan attended the schools in Renton. In her senior year of high school she had the opportunity to become a foreign exchange student in Austria. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and remained good friends with her family there. She was multi-lingual and could speak four languages. She was employed in California as a secretary in a real estate office; she also did clerical work at a trucking firm in Texas before moving to Missouri. After moving to Willow Springs, she worked for Don Kendall Insurance Company and obtained her bachelor's degree at SBU in Mountain View. She married Jesse Lathrop in Las Vegas in December 1969 and to this union, one daughter was born. Jesse readily accepted her son, Sean and helped raise him as his own. She was of the Methodist faith. She loved to garden and had a passion for reading. She and Jesse loved to care for their dogs, especially Gambler and "KeyKey." She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jesse; her son, Sean; and her brother, Charles.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Teddi Collins and her husband, Shane of Willow Springs; three grandchildren: Crystal Lathrop-Quertermous and her husband, Shaun of Gassville, AR; Ashley Scott and her husband, Anthony also of Willow Springs; and Paige Anderson of Seattle, WA. She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren: Sean, Noah, Minnie, Alison, Cayson, Lillian, and Henley.
