Thelma Mae Brown

Thelma Mae Brown, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Wednesday evening, August 12, 2020 while at Willow Care Nursing Home.  She was born December 25, 1935 in Douglas County, MO to Jim and Georgia (Collins) Davis and was 84 years old.
Thelma attended school in rural Douglas County at Flatrock where she completed the eighth grade.  As a young woman she worked at a sawmill; she also was adept at peeling pine posts, and that is where she met her future husband, George C. Brown.  The two were married on September 24, 1955 in Hernando, MS.  She and George were active members of Flatrock Baptist Church.  Thelma loved to cook, garden, and can the produce from her garden.  She was also very fond of feeding her dogs and birds.  She was always happy when she was singing, especially for the residents at the nursing home.  However, her passion was flowers and tending her flower beds.  She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, George; and one son, Lonnie Ray Brown.
She is survived by two sons: Larry Brown and his wife, Peggy; and James Brown and his wife, Linda, all of Willow Springs; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Thelma’s memory to the Holmes Flatrock Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
Viewing hours for Thelma will be from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Willow Funeral Home, LLC.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Holmes Flatrock Cemetery in Douglas County with J.T. Tooley officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.  Online condolences may be left at www.willowspringsfuneralhome.com
