Vernon Leon Brixey

Vernon Leon Brixey, known best by his family as 'Papa', died on April 5, 2026 in Burlington, Vermont surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 21, 1947 in Willow Springs, Missouri, Leon graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1965 and married Teresa Fletcher in Colombia, Missouri in 1975. Together they had three daughters: Stephanie, Veronica, and Leandra.

Leon's joy in life came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, as long as board games were never involved. Leon loved to play his guitar and sing, passing his love of music onto his family. His professional life was spent as a shoe designer and wood worker. Leon also served as a member of the Armed Forces from 1966-1968, completing a tour in Vietnam. He could always be seen with his Vietnam Veteran cap on, and was proud to have served. 'Papa' will be remembered for his infectious "tee-hee", ridiculous sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family.

Leon is survived by his dearly loving wife of 51 years, Teresa (Fletcher) Brixey. He is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie Hull, husband Jeff; children, Hayden, Cebelle, Ronan and Adaleigh and daughter, Veronica Darragh, husband Jim; son, Quinn and daughter, Leandra Davies, husband Kevin; daughters River and Aeryn. He was preceded in death by parents Donald Eugene Brixey and Opal Lucille Collins as well as his brother, Ernest Leroy Brixey.
