Letter to the Editor

As the mayor of Mountain View, I would like to address last week’s letter to the editor concerning the article Scorched Earth.  Mr. Reese’s statements are that of a bitter and disgruntled ex-employee. As with any story, it has grown and been distorted with time. This constant division in our community caused by a handful of people needs to end, and the best way to do this is to recognize this for what it is and move forward. My priority is to this city, and I am working diligently with my staff and council to improve and grow Mountain View. We have some great things in the works, and you will begin seeing many changes in the years to come starting from this administration, and this council.
For those of you who are unaware, we have the storm water drainage project (also known as the Oak Street Project) in progress, pool update in progress, new water meters are going in, airport improvements are getting ready to start, and we are even working on getting new businesses and more employment opportunities.  Recently I have been meeting with engineers and working with my staff on a new grant application we hope to obtain that will fix our sidewalks as well as some other exciting improvements. Changes are being made for the betterment of the community, but the timetable for completion is dependent upon the grants, engineers, and contractors.
In closing, I would like for our community to come together and let us all remember the past is history and the future is a new beginning.  God bless you all.
