1 Kings 18:40 - Then Elijah commanded them, "Seize the prophets of Baal. Don't let anyone get away!" They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.
Tragically, ancient Israel had fallen into a miserable spiritual condition at the time of Elijah's ministry. While the other religious leaders succumbed to the damnable doctrine of Baal in which little children were sacrificed to the devilish devices of evil men, the old prophet was the only person standing for God among a company of 450 apostate priests who progressively led the people astray.
Furthermore, wicked King Ahab and his whorish, foreign wife claimed Israel's throne. Sin was so pervasive that no one even tried to hide their abominations anymore. In fact, the queen's name "Jezebel" meant "Baal glorifies!" What a putrid stench in the nostrils of Almighty God!
Frustrated with the nation's apathy, Elijah asked, "How long will you stumble between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." 1 Kings 18:21 But the spineless, cowardly people answered him not a word!
Likewise, in America, the Church has sunk to a similar low point in its profession of faith for Jesus Christ! Besides nationally-known preachers and acclaimed Gospel singers/worship leaders declaring their total loss of faith, our ridiculous government has warned the Church that we soon will be "shaken to our foundation" regarding their elaborate "alien" hoax to distract us from the elected officials' very real crimes of molesting children at the highest political level. "Nevertheless," let me be the first to declare loud and long, "God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness." (2 Timothy 2:19)
Which compels me to say, "Enough of this absurd foolishness!"
Similarly, a moment in time finally came when Elijah said, "As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely face the King today." (1 Kings 18:15)
In his determination to confront Ahab... Elijah was branded the "Troublemaker of Israel (1 Kings 18:17)," but I assure you that the moral and spiritual crime lay closer to the heart of the people than it did at the feet of their annoying prophet!
As with Elijah of old, I have totally had it! I am fed up with the stupidity, the profanity, the perversion, the mock-Christianity, and the lies! It will take a lot more than a science-fiction fairytale about UFOs or a lying, pedophile president to shake my faith in Jesus Christ, my Lord! The true Church will never fall from an exterior threat because in Jesus Christ we are "more than conquerors through Him who loved us!" (Romans 8:37)
But we must remain "in Jesus Christ and in Jesus Christ alone," because without Him, we can do absolutely nothing. (John 15:5)
Unplugging from social media and reality TV, we must be on our guard and stay awake because our enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to devour unaware. We must resist the devil and stay strong in our faith so that the old deceiver will run from us. All over the world, the Lord's genuine disciples are suffering together. Though few in number, we are not alone! (1 Peter 5:8-9)
If other deceived individuals (who were never elect or called to salvation) decide to abandon their bogus, religious profession due to either an imagined E.T. or a very real disreputable politician, then they were imposters in God's House all along and never had any real faith to begin with. But you, on the other hand, must set your face towards Heaven like an old Missouri flint rock so that, in the end, you won't be disappointed because your confidence in God has great promise of eternal reward. (Isaiah 50:7, Hebrews 10:35)
