Chapter 2
By the time Animal Control arrived, Mrs. Gimblestone had somehow befriended the dragon.
ACO Logan Andrews stood at the edge of the tomato patch holding a catch pole better suited to an angry cat than the three-foot reptile munching tomatoes from Mrs. Gimbleston’s hand.
Officer John Johns crossed his arms, “You’re gonna need a bigger catch pole. Jus’ sayin’.”
"She lured him," a young voice yelled.
Everyone looked toward the neighboring house.
Twelve-year-old Jaxson Magillacudy stormed across the yard in Pokemon pajama pants, and a level of outrage only a pre-teen could understand.
"She stole Charizard!"
"I did no such thing," Mrs. Gimblestone snapped.
The iguana rubbed against her leg. She patted its head like a dog.
Jaxson pointed dramatically. "See!"
Mrs. Gimblestone pointed her broom right back. "You, Jason, keep your monstrosity out of my garden."
"It's Jaxson!"
"I know what I said."
"It's not even close!"
The iguana accepted another tomato from Mrs. Gimblestone.
The boy turned to Officer Johns. “You gotta do something about her. She’s crazy.”
John sniffed. “Weren’t you the one to leave something like a hundred little yellow plastic ducks all over her yard?”
“What? I would never.” Jaxson attempted to look innocent.
"The little liar put one in my mailbox."
“You put one in my bike spokes.”
"You put one in my church purse."
At which point Jaxson immediately drew up in indignation.
"Hey, I did not put one in your church purse."
