Calls for Service
January 22
Deputy Timothy Gordon, received a report concerning a car that someone wasn't returning. After talking with the subject, he contacted the second party and they worked out a solution to return the vehicle to the owner. 
Deputy Melanie Roam received a report of theft from a mailbox. 
Deputy Dylan Webb spoke with an individual regarding a possible sexual assault. The investigation is ongoing.
Deputy Michael Lewis received notice of an assault that happened in the jail involving two inmates. Formal charges are being pursued, the report will be sent to the prosecuting attorneys office. 
Deputy John Thomas responded to an accidental shooting in Mountain View.
January 23
Deputy Webb responded ot Kountry Korner gas station in Moody for a forgery report. The reporting party stated a subject tried to purchase items with a forged $50 bill. Deputy Webb retained the bill and an investigation is ongoing.
Deputy Webb assisted Missouri Department of Social Services, Children's Division with an assessment over allegations of drug possession within a residence. They conducted a walk through at the suspected residence with no concerns noted. 
Deputy Talon Millard received a call of a stealing that occurred on State Route 14 of West Plains.
Jailer Tyler Gill received notice of an outstanding warrant from Johnson County Kansas for Elias Garcia Jr. Charges will be filed with Howell County Prosecutors Office for review. 
January 24
Deputy Webb assisted Missouri Department of Social Services, Children's Division with an assessment over allegations of drug possession within a residence. They conducted w walk through at the suspected residence with no concerns noted. 
Deputy First Class Jared Hummel responded to County Road 2410 in reference to trespassing. He took one individual into custody for trespassing and one for driving while intoxicated. 
January 25
Deputy Robert Malone responded to Private Road 3350 in Willow Springs for a disturbance. He trespassed on subject from the property.
Undersheriff Justin Riley spoke to the Missouri Attorney Generals Office in reference to a reported sexual assault that occurred in 2016. 
Deputy Thomas spoke to an individual from Private Road 9796 stating they shot the neighbor’s dog. An informational report of animal trespass 2nd degree will be filed.
January 26
Deputy Jacob Hamby responded to Kelly Self Storage in West Plains for a report of a theft.
Deputy Tessa Jenns took a report of harassment. 
January 27
Deputy Gordon conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 63. During the course of the stop, he discovered no occupants of the vehicle had a valid license or proof of insurance for the car. He placed the driver under arrest for driving revoked or suspended and secured them in the patrol vehicle. He requested the vehicle towed from the scene. Investigation discovered that the driver in custody threw a small plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine residue on the floorboard of the patrol vehicle's transport partition. This bag field tested positive for methamphetamine residue. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office. 
Deputy Hamby responded to Katherine Street, West Plains for a report in reference to a theft.
January 28
An employee from the emergency room at Mercy Hospital contacted the Howell County Sheriff's Office to report a dog bite that occurred at County Road 4540 near Pomona.
Deputy Austin Ryan received notice of a victim filing a report of rape in the area of State Route K in West Plains. This case is under investigation.
Deputy Ryan received notice of a report property damage in the area of County Road 1080 in Willow Springs.
Deputy Ryan received a report of an individual receiving scammer calls in the area of County Road 1890 in Willow Springs. This case is still under investigation at this time. 
Corporal Seth Smith received a report stealing at a residence on County Road 6380, West Plains.
Deputy Hamby responded to State Route AB, West Plains for a report in reference to a property damage.
