Incidents
October 11
A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on County Road 3850 in Peace Valley. The vehicle was entered into MULES.
A female subject reported that someone had stolen a sign from her property on County Road 9190.
A theft was reported on County Road 2950.
October 12
A stolen chainsaw was reported on County Road 8270.
A burglary was reported at a residence on County Road 1774. Damage was done to doors on the residence, as well as a storage shed.
A fuel theft was reported at Alligator Jack’s on U.S. Highway 160 in West Plains.
A domestic disturbance was reported on Private Road 6922 in West Plains.
A disturbance was reported at a residence on County Road 8040 in West Plains. Neither party wished to pursue charges.
October 13
Contraband was found on an inmate at the Howell County Jail. Charges will be filed against the inmate.
A woman reported that her boyfriend kicked her out of the truck she was riding in, and left her on the side of the road. The case remains open.
A Pomona resident reported fraudulent use of electronic banking. The suspect allegedly used the victim’s banking information to obtain more than $250 in goods and services.
A burglary was reported at Kelley Self Storage on Katherine Drive in West Plains.
A stolen ATV was located at a residence on County Road 6920. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Oregon County and was towed from the scene.
A sexual assault was reported by a Brandsville resident. The incident allegedly took place in September. The investigation continues.
October 14
A report of stolen license plates was received from a resident on County Road 8020. The plates were entered into MULES.
Illegal narcotics were found inside a vehicle, during a traffic stop on County Road 8830. The driver of the vehicle was booked and released from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.
October 15
A death investigation was conducted for a male subject that died while being transported from a nursing home in West Plains. The man was being transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
An assault was reported on Vandiver Avenue in Brandsville. Both parties wished to pursue charges against the other. A probable cause statement was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor.
A stolen vehicle was reported on County Road 1610. At report time, no arrests had been made in connection to the theft.
October 16
A male subject reported that someone illegally had cattle on his land. Contact was made with the owner of the cattle, and charges have been filed.
Two arrests were made after a domestic disturbance was reported near State Route ZZ and U.S. Highway 63 in West Plains. One suspect also faced a charge of driving while intoxicated.
A vehicle was stopped on County Road 8270 for a lighting violation. The driver was cited for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
A traffic stop was conducted on Jan Howard Expressway in West Plains. The driver was booked and released for careless and imprudent driving, failure to maintain financial responsibility and failure to register a motor vehicle.
October 21
A deceased female was reported at a residence on County Road 5310 in Willow Springs. No foul play is suspected.
A report of harassment was received. Formal charges will be forwarded to the county prosecutor.
A defaced firearm was seized during a traffic stop on Porter Wagoner Boulevard in West Plains. Deputy Derek Hughston assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol during the stop.
