Incidents
October 20
An animal abuse incident was reported at a residence on County Road 7040 in Pottersville. The reporting party stated that their dog and goat had wandered onto a neighboring property, and the neighbor shot their goat. 
A report was received of receiving bad checks. The investigation continues. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on County Road 6160. At this time, no charges have been filed. 
October 21
A deceased female was reported t a residence on County Road 5310 in Willow Springs. The county coroner was contacted. No foul play is suspected. 
A report of harassment was received from a resident on State Route T. Formal charges were forwarded to the county prosecutor. 
A report of a bad check was received. The investigation continues. 
Assistance was given to the Missouri State Highway Patrol during a traffic stop at the intersection of Porter Wagoner and Independence in West Plains. A defaced firearm was seized during the traffic stop. 
October 22
A sex offender moved without notifying the Howell County Sheriff’s Office. Formal charges are being sought. 
A report was received of a male subject trying to enter a residence on County Road 1130 in Willow Springs while carrying a knife. Contact was made with the male, who appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. The man was taken into custody and taken to Ozarks Healthcare for an evaluation. 
A license plate was reported stolen on County Road 8630. A report was taken. 
A male subject was arrested at Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park in West Plains on a warrant. 
October 23
Contact was made with a male subject on County Road 7160 in South Fork. The male, who was arrested on a warrant out of St. Charles, was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Formal charges are pending. 
A resident on State Route AB reported the theft of a license plate. There is no known suspect, and no charges are being filed. 
A burglary was reported at a residence on County Road 6140. The investigation continues. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on Private Road 5080. No criminal charges are pending. 
October 24
Property damage was reported at a residence on County Road 4990. A report was taken. 
A domestic assault was reported at a residence on County Road 4000 in West Plains. 
An inmate was found unresponsive in a holding cell at the Howell County Jail. It appeared that the inmate attempted to harm himself. 
A possible theft was reported on the 1500 block of U.S. Highway 160. 
October 25
An individual came to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office to report a possible scam. 
A woman reported that someone was using her identity to attempt to purchase a car in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Forgery and theft charges were filed against the suspect. 
 A report was received of a man running his truck into a ditch after allegedly trying to hit a woman with his vehicle. The man was reportedly hiding in brush near a vet clinic on U.S. Highway 160 in West Plains. The man was found and was cited for driving while revoked/suspended. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
