Incidents
May 15
An attempted traffic stop turned into a pursuit on County Road 6850 in West Plains. The pursuit ended when the vehicle turned into a driveway on County Road 8800, and the two occupants of the vehicle ran into a field. A juvenile suspect was apprehended and was placed in the custody of the juvenile office.
A vehicle was reported stolen from Triple C Cycle in West Plains. The vehicle was recovered on West First Street and was returned to the owner. The investigation continues. 
A burglary was reported on County Road 7640 in West Plains.
May 16
Property damage was reported at a residence on State Route 14 in Pomona. The incident remains under investigation.
May 17
A domestic assault was reported at a residence on County Road 7300 in Caulfield. Both involved parties were advised of their judicial remedies. 
Property damage was reported on County Road 6920 in West Plains, where a fence was struck by a vehicle. A canvass of the area resulted in the location of a stolen vehicle and the suspect in the theft of the vehicle. The suspect, who had attempted to hide the stolen vehicle in an area of dense brush and trees, was taken into custody.
May 18
A domestic assault was reported at a residence on County Road 6380. A hotline call was placed in connection to the incident, due to a 15-year-old being hit in the arm.
An assault was reported on County Road 2360 in Pomona.
May 19
A break-in was reported at Ozark Machinery in West Plains. Surveillance footage revealed a suspect who had gone into the business and taken money from inside. The investigation is ongoing. 
Multiple tools were reported stolen on County Road 8820. A suspect has been identified. The investigation continues. 
A deceased person was reported on County Road 1700 in West Plains.
Trespassers were reported on County Road 5120 in Willow Springs. One of the two trespassers in the residence had a warrant from the state of Georgia.
May 20
A business owner reported check forgery. A check that had been mailed was intercepted, altered, and deposited into an account electronically. Another fake check was presented, but it is unclear if the two incidents are connected. The investigation continues.
A male subject was injured by broken glass at a residence on State Route ZZ in West Plains. The male was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. 
A child was reported in the West Plains area. The child was located, and a hotline call was made in regard to the child’s care. 
A male subject was taken into custody on a warrant after a disturbance call on State Route K, near West Plains.
A suspicious subject was reported on State Route K in West Plains.
May 21
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team, along with the West Plains Police Department, assembled at a residence on the 700 block of First Street for the apprehension of a wanted suspect. The wanted suspect was believed to be armed with a handgun. Arrangements were made for two other individuals inside the house to be evacuated. A juvenile female was also believed to be inside the house. After several minutes, the suspect agreed to exit the residence and was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile female, who was a missing runaway, was released to the Juvenile Office. 
A report of trespassing was received on County Road 8890.
May 22
A search was conducted at the Howell County Jail after some inmates appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. A small bag of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was located. Charges are pending for the inmate who was found to be in possession of the bag.
Items were reported stolen from a vehicle at the Elk’s Lodge in West Plains. The investigation is ongoing.
A trespasser was reported at a property on State Route JJ. The reporting party did not wish to press charges but did want the trespasser advised that they are not allowed on the property. 
A 12-year-old juvenile was reportedly punched in the face by another juvenile at Skateland in West Plains. The incident was forwarded to the Juvenile Office. 
May 23
A suicidal subject was reported on State Route AB in West Plains, who was under the influence and operating a vehicle. After a pursuit, the subject was taken into custody. 
A firearm was found on County Road 6590, near a low water crossing. The firearm was recovered and placed into evidence. 
A “Gopher It” driver reported that a suspect used the service and refused to pay. The suspect got out of the vehicle at a residence in Pomona without paying for the ride.
May 24
A domestic assault and property damage were reported at a residence on County Road 7300. Charges were forwarded to the county prosecutor.
