Incidents 
June 23
A license plate tab was reported stolen from a residence on County Road 6540 in West Plains.  No suspects have been identified. 
A vehicle was reported stolen on State Route 14 in Howell County. The incident remains under investigation. 
June 24
A female subject reported being assaulted by her mother and father at their residence on State Route 142. Contact was made with the parents, who stated that the female had gotten out of control, and that the father had whipped the female with a belt. Deputy Benaiah Bishop contacted the Children’s Division with the female and sent a report to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for review. 
A South Fork man reported that a person was refusing to return keys to a building that was being rented. Contact was made with the individual, and the keys were returned without incident. 
A traffic stop was conducted on County Road 2960 in Mountain View. The driver of the vehicle was found to have several active warrants and a revoked license. The driver was arrested on the scene. 
A non-responsive infant was reported at a residence on County Road 8530 in West Plains. Upon arrival, it was learned that the infant had been taken to the hospital. 
June 25
A West Plains woman reported the theft of cattle and an ATV from her property on State Route E. The suspect claimed to have taken the items in lieu of payment for services. The woman stated that the subject had been offered payment for services, but the man demanded undocumented cash payment before returning the property. A report was taken, and the investigation continues. 
Farm equipment was reported stolen on State Route 17 in West Plains. No suspects have been identified. 
June 26
Property damage was reported at Eagle Heights Baptist Church on County Road 8570 in West Plains. An unknown suspect used spray paint on the side of the church building. 
June 27
A 17-year-old male was injured in an alleged drive-by shooting on County Road 1580 in West Plains. The victim and several witnesses stated that multiple shots had been fired from a moving vehicle by 19-year-old Nathaniel Mejia. The victim was struck in the hand by one of the bullets and was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. Mejia was later located on Gibson in West Plains and was in possession of the weapon that was suspected to have been used in the shooting. Mejia was arrested and taken to the Howell County Jail, where he posted bond on charges of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. 
A woman reported that a court order of protection had been violated. Charges are pending in connection to the incident. 
June 29
An assault was reported to have taken place on Private Road 6922. Several minor injuries were observed on the female victim. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for review. 
June 30
A traffic stop was conducted on County Road 6220. The driver was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. 
July 1
A West Plains man reported that he did not receive custody of his children, as ordered by a court decision. A report was taken and was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
July 2
A resident on County Road 1080 reported that aggressive dogs from a neighboring property had come onto their property. The dogs’ owner was charged with animal abuse.
A suspected controlled substance was found in the possession of an inmate being booked into the county jail. The substance was sent to the Missouri State Crime Lab for analysis. 
A domestic assault was reported at Henry’s Trailer Park on U.S. Highway 160 in West Plains. The victim stated that her husband ad gotten drunk and punched her in the face. The woman’s husband denied punching the woman. The woman stated that she did not wish to pursue charges. She was provided information about domestic violence and was advised of how to obtain an ex-parte order. 
July 3
A Mountain View. Man reported the theft of his chainsaw from his residence on County Road 3690. The chainsaw was entered into the database of stolen goods. 
An abandoned vehicle was reported on private property along U.S. Highway 160 in Caulfield. The vehicle was towed from the scene. 
An assault was reported at the rodeo arena in Caulfield. A male suspect allegedly grabbed a juvenile female and tried to restrain her. The suspect was arrested and faces a charge of fourth degree assault involving a special victim. 
July 4
Property damage and an assault were reported at a residence on County Road 1774. One arrest was made as a result of the investigation. 
A report was received of a female throwing fireworks at children. Contact was made with the female suspect. Charges have been filed. 
An assault was reported t a residence on County Road 5730 in West Plains. The victim denied medical treatment and refused to identify her assailant. 
July 5
A woman, who had been previously seen trying to enter various rooms at the Rest Inn Motel in West Plains, was observed pulling back into the parking lot. The woman was found to be intoxicated, with a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit. The woman was cited and placed on a 12-hour hold. 
Suspected methamphetamine was recovered during a traffic stop on County Road 7320. The female driver was placed on hold, and a probable cause statement was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
July 6
A traffic stop was initiated with an ATV on Post Oak Road in Willow Springs. The driver of the ATV parked it and fled on foot. The ATV was towed from the area after contact could not be made with the driver.
