Incidents 
July 14
A report was received of a possible sexual assault involving two juvenile females. A worker with the Children’s Division made contact with the females, and the investigation continues. 
A West Plains woman reported suspicious activity on her daughter’s Facebook account. The woman stated that someone had gained access to her daughter’s account, and that her email address was being used on another account. A report was take, and the investigation continues. 
July 16
Damage was reported at New Liberty Baptist Church in West Plains. The pastor of the church reported that someone damaged an awning by hitting one of the supports with a vehicle. A report was taken, and the investigation is ongoing. 
A theft was reported from a residence on County Road 8000 in West Plains. A person of interest has been identified. The investigation continues. 
July 17
A dog bite was reported at a home on County Road 2790. The animal was quarantined. 
A possible deceased person was reported at a residence on County Road 3910 in Mountain View. No signs of foul play were detected. The man had recently tested positive for COVID-19 and had multiple underlying health issues. 
A report of a deceased female on Cedar Street in West Plains was received. The woman’s death was determined to be from natural causes. 
A report was taken of a sexual offense involving a juvenile. The matter is under investigation by the Howell County Investigations Division. 
July 18
A runaway juvenile was reported at the Whetstone Boys Ranch. The boy was located a short distance away and was returned to the ranch. 
The mother and grandmother of a child attempted to file a missing person report on a child that had been taken into custody by the Children’s Division. The Children’s Division reported that the child was not missing, and was at a safe location. 
July 19
Copper wire and tools for copper wire installation were stolen from a residence on County Road 2330 in Pomona. The case remains under investigation. 
A West Plains man reported that his 2001 Dodge pickup was stolen from his residence on State Route 14. A Polaris UTV that was found at the scene of the incident had been stolen from another location in West Plains earlier that morning. The UTV was returned to the owners. The stolen truck was entered into the stolen vehicle database, and the investigation continues. 
A caller reported suspected child abuse that occurred earlier this month at a home on County Road 8020 in West Plains. A report was taken, and charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for review. 
July 20
The Mountain View Police Department sent a statement form about a littering issue on County Road 2660. The reporting party stated that two individuals have been dumping trash along the County Road. The case remains under investigation. 
A pontoon boat and trailer were reported stolen from a property on County Road 2570.
