Incidents
July 20
A domestic disturbance between two adult siblings was reported at a residence on State Route 17 in West Plains. A woman stated that her brother was intoxicated and was fighting with her. The male subject was arrested at the scene on multiple active warrants. 
Two lawn mowers were reported stolen from a residence on County Road 9110 in West Plains. The case is under investigation. 
Damage to a gate was reported at a residence on State Route 14 in West Plains. Further investigation showed that the gate was damaged when an unknown suspect gained entry to the property to steal a John Deere mower. The investigation continues. 
July 21
An out-of-control juvenile was reported at a residence on County Road 9160 in Koshkonong. The male juvenile left the residence of his stepmother to go with his biological mother. The stepmother was advised that she could get an ex-parte if she feared for her safety. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on Private Road 6290. A female at the scene had a busted lip and missing tooth from the altercation. A male ha a bloody fingernail from striking the female. The mother of the male subject drove up the driveway of the property, stopping abruptly near the female subject, in an effort to scare the woman. The mother of the male subject will be charged with peace disturbance. The male subject was arrested with charges pending for domestic assault. 
Corporal Derek Hughston was dispatched to a home on Private Road 6303 for a domestic assault. Upon completion of an investigation, charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for review. 
A deceased male was reported at a residence on State Route K in Pottersville. It appears that the male died from a massive heart attack. 
A vehicle was reported stolen from a location on County Road 3080 in Mountain View. A report was taken, and the vehicle was entered as stolen. 
July 22
A man reported that someone forged his name on a check and presented it as payment at a local bank. A report was taken, and the investigation continues. 
Merchandise was reported stolen from Ledford Auction House on Bill Virdon Boulevard in West Plains. A report was taken. 
A 1995 Ford F-150 was reported stolen from a residence on County Road 6370. The matter is under investigation. 
Mega Motorsports in West Plains reported that a catalytic converter was stolen from a company vehicle. The investigation continues. 
Two suspects were identified in a report of theft at Dollar General on U.S. Highway 160 in West Plains. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for review. 
While conducting a follow-up investigation at Dollar General in Southfork, Corporal Derek Hughston and Deputy Jacob Hamby received word that the suspects had just burglarized Aldi in West Plains. Contact was made with the suspects’ vehicle, and a pursuit ensued. The suspects’ vehicle crashed in Arkansas, where they were taken into custody. The three females all had warrants for their arrest and were taken to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. A juvenile male that was in the vehicle was referred to the Division of Family Services for alternative care. 
Deputy Bruce Sortman was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Main and South Hill Street in West Plains. 
July 23
A woman reported damage to a vehicle that was parked in her shop building on State Route MM. It appeared that the suspect was attempting to steal the vehicle, with damage to the steering column, doors, trunk, wiring and fuse panel. A report was taken, and the investigation is ongoing. 
A burglary was reported at an auction house on Bill Virdon Boulevard. No merchandise was found to be missing, but someone had removed all the tarps from the consignment tables. At report time, no consignors reported any missing merchandise. 
A deceased male was reported at a residence on County Road 8160 in West Plains. An investigation was conducted, and the case was closed. 
July 24
A violation of a court order of protection for an adult was reported. The case remains under investigation. 
July 25
Property damage was reported at Glenn’s Truck Repair on South Highway 63. A report was taken. 
A deceased male was reported at a residence on County Road 1300 in West Plains. The wife of the man reported that she found him when she had woken up that morning. No foul play was suspected, and it was determined that the man died of natural causes. 
A report was received of a man chasing a woman with a pellet gun on State Route W in Peace Valley. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male suspect was actually chasing the female victim with a shotgun. The woman had also been assaulted. The male suspect was arrested and charged with domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. 
July 26
Emergency personal responded to a residence on County Road 3810 for a report of a 92-year-old woman that was unresponsive after falling. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No foul play is suspected. 
A burglary was reported at Cliff’s Truck Repair on U.S. Highway 63 in West Plains. The owner reported that he noticed a few items had been stolen. Security footage will be reviewed. 
A well-being check was requested at a residence on State Route 14. The female that was the subject of the well-being check was found to be fine, but she requested that her sons removed from the property. One of the woman’s sons was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave the property. Another son was arrested on a Douglas County warrant, after he was found hiding in some bushes on the property. 
A vehicle was reported stolen from a location on the 4600 block of U.S. Highway 160. The investigation continues. 
A report was received that a privately owned deer had been killed. The incident occurred on County Road 1590. 
A man reported that a cell phone was on his account,without his permission, by a female he knows. The suspect was identified, and charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for review.
