Incidents 
August 18
A death investigation was conducted at a residence on State Route 142. A female subject stated that her husband had passed away while the couple was sleeping. The investigation showed that the man had died from natural causes brought on by his current health issues. 
A runaway juvenile was reported at a residence on State Route 17 in West Plains. A residence that was known to be a place that the juvenile often visits was checked, but the juvenile was not located. The girl was entered as a missing person. 
Stolen property was reported at a residence on County Road 7740. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on State Route K in West Plains. Neither involved party had any visible injuries, and neither party wished to pursue charges. A report was completed to document the incident. 
August 19
A woman reported that someone had used her bank information to charge nearly $500. A report was taken. 
AN incident of adult abuse was reported at a residence on State Route 101. No parties wished to pursue charges in the incident. 
August 20 
A report was received that a female subject was displaying a firearm at a male subject on County Road 4210. Upon arrival, it was determined that the woman had not displayed a firearm, and that the two were having a verbal altercation. No charges were pursued. 
A traffic stop was conducted on U.S. Highway 160. As a result, one male subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and another male was arrested on outstanding warrants. 
A traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle that was displaying the license plates of another vehicle on U.S. Highway 63. Controlled substances were found inside the vehicle, and one person was placed under arrest. 
August 21
A pursuit of a theft suspect was conducted on U.S. Highway 63. The suspect vehicle fled down State Route PP and onto State Route 142, coming to a stop on a dead-end road, following an approximately twenty minute pursuit. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, and suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia were found inside. Charges have been filed. 
A Pomona woman reported that someone she knows stole money and keys from her residence on County Road 1350. A report was taken, and the investigation continues. 
August 22
A disturbance was reported on State Route P in Willow Springs. A female subject was located sitting along the Forest Service Road. The woman stated that she had been taken out of the vehicle. Caretakers for the woman stated that she had become belligerent and began throwing rocks at them and their vehicle. Damage to the vehicle was documented. 
August 23
A burglary was reported at a business near U.S. Highway 63 in Willow Springs. There was damage to a door, and multiple items were stolen. The investigation continues. 
A deputy was dispatched to Ozarks Healthcare for a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It was reported that the victim was cleaning the firearm when it accidentally discharged, striking the victim in the left hand. 
A Willow Springs woman reported that her 2016 Hyundai Accent was stolen from behind her home on County Road 5840. The investigation continues. 
A traffic stop was conducted on St. Louis Street in West Plains. Two small bags with suspected methamphetamine were seized from the vehicle. The driver was booked and released on a misdemeanor. Charges of drug possession were sent to the county prosecutor for review. 
Suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop at Crestwood Circle in West Plains. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were released at the scene. Further charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for review. 
A woman reported the nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images. The investigation continues. 
August 24
A sex offender was found to have failed to register on four separate occasions in 2021. Formal charges are pending.
