Incidents
August 24
Property damage was reported on Split Oak Road in Willow Springs. One suspect was identified, arrested and charged. 
A sex offender failed to register four times in 2021. Formal charges are pending. 
A woman reported the non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images. The investigation is ongoing. 
August 25
Deputy Travis Weaver attempted to stop a vehicle on State Route AB in West Plains. The vehicle fled from the deputy and drove to a residence on County Road 8800, where the driver then fled on foot. The investigation continues. 
A license plate that was found on State Route E in West Plains was turned in at the Sheriff’s Office. The owner of the plate was contacted. The owner of the plate stated that she had lost the plate and advised that she no longer needed it. The Sheriff’s Office disposed of the plate. 
A resident reported the theft of a firearm. The stolen firearm was entered into the system, and the investigation continues. 
A Mountain View woman reported that she had been bitten by a dog that she knows. The incident occurred on State Route W. 
A deceased male was reported at a residence on County Road 6720 in Pottersville. It was determined that the man died of self-inflicted injuries. The matter remains under investigation. 
August 26
Collectible books and a portable building were among items reported stolen at a residence on County Road 6290. A report was taken. 
An electric wheelchair and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen from a storage unit at Kelley Self Storage in West Plains. The investigation continues. 
A vehicle tampering suspect was arrested on State Route 14 in West Plains. The suspect resisted arrest and assaulted law enforcement when being taken into custody. Formal charges against the suspect are pending. 
August 27
A motorcycle rider fled from Deputy Devon Mendenhall, during an attempted traffic stop on Aid Avenue. The rider was identified, and a probable cause statement was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
A stolen vehicle from Texas County was recovered at a residence on State Route W in Mountain View. 26-year-old Samuel Hockman was arrested at the residence for outstanding warrants. 
August 28
A domestic assault was reported on East U.S. Highway 160 in West Plains. Neither involved party wished to pursue charges, and both individuals declined medical treatment. The primary aggressor of the incident agreed to leave the residence for the night. 
August 29
A stolen motorcycle was found abandoned on County Road 6760. The motorcycle was recovered, and the investigating agency was notified. 
August 30
A male subject was arrested after being seen stumbling after getting out of his truck that he had just been seen driving. The man failed a field sobriety test, and a chemical test of the man’s breath confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol. 
A burglary was reported at a residence on County Road 8080. The incident is under investigation. 
A sexual assault was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. A report was taken from the victim, and the investigation is ongoing.
