Calls for Service

June 23

Officer Kylie McGee responded to Sonic for a domestic disturbance in a vehicle. Officer arrested one individual and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

Officer McGee received a report from a resident on Dunkin Street who found a 4-year-old who had wandered into their house to play with their cat. Officer McGee located the child’s residence and made contact with the parents. The parents stated an older child watching the younger fell asleep.

Officer McGee spoke with an individual who stated they thought somebody had been trying to get into their house at night. Officers checked the property and found it secure. 

Officer McGee responded to the Crestview Senior Housing for a fall detection alarm. An individual stated the alarm fell to the ground, and they were unhurt.

Asst. Chief Stetson Schwien along with the Missouri Children’s Division, began an investigation at Valley View Apartments on North Ash Street.

Officers responded to Deer Park Lane for a medical call. Investigation found an individual struck by a vehicle while in a garage. Officers assisted in first aid until the arrival of EMS. 

Asst. Chief Stetson Schwien received multiple calls to Ozark Trading Post on Oak Street for a residential alarm. He determined the alarm malfunctioned, and the building was secure.

Officer McGee assisted EMS with a lift assist at the Brookview Senior Apartments.

Officer McGee assisted a motorist by helping him look for his motorcycle battery that had fallen off his motorcycle.

June 24

Cpl. Trenton Roberts took a report of a nuisance property.

Cpl. Roberts assisted Division of Family Services with making contact in reference to a hotline call.  The incident is still being investigated.

Cpl. Roberts responded to N. Elm St. and 60 Hwy for a possible suicidal juvenile. He spoke to the juvenile and released them to the care of the parents.

June 25

Cpl. Roberts responded to Ozark Trading Post for an alarm. The key holder arrived, and the building was secure.

June 26

Officer Matthew Combs responded for a suspicious person near the old Town and Country building. He checked the area, but was unable to locate anything out of place. He contacted the caller who stated he had let his dog out and it began barking at someone who left the area.

While running radar on US Hwy 60, Officer Combs heard someone yelling at a vehicle. He contacted the individual who stated the reason for the yelling. The driver of the vehicle returned and stated the same reasons.

Cpl. Roberts responded to Smoker’s Outlet for a vehicle that backed into a yellow pole and electrical box before leaving the scene.

Cpl. Roberts responded to E. Third St. for a disturbance. The involved parties agreed to separate.

June 27

Officer Combs responded to an alarm going off at the middle school. He found the building secure.

June 28

Officer Combs responded to assist EMS. Investigation found cats stepped on the medical alert button.

Officer McGee issued a warning for a nuisance violation on Belmont Street.

Officer McGee assisted EMS and fire on Washington St. to help lift an older individual who had fallen. 

June 29

Officer McGee responded to 116 E. US Hwy 60 for a missing child who had wandered off without the parents’ knowledge. HCSO assisted with finding the child. Officer McGee has had incidents with this same child recently and will be contacting juvenile services.

Chief James Perkins responded to a report of a raccoon trapped in a building. He removed the raccoon from the building, and it dispatched it at the airport.

June 30

Officer McGee conducted a safety check on individuals with a disabled vehicle.

Officer McGee noticed several people in the Veterans Park after curfew while patrolling E. Fifth St. Officers advised the individuals that they could go to the cooling center if needed.

Officer Gordon responded to an address reporting multiple skunks by the house the reporting party wanted gone. He moved the item that the skunks were hiding under, and they left the area.

July 1

Officer Reef conducted a wellbeing check for an individual in their car at Casey’s for an extended period of time. He found the individual asleep and unresponsive. Officer Reef broke the window to check on the individual. He had EMS checked the individual. He arrested the subject for driving while intoxicated.

July 2

Officer Reef assisted EMS with a medical call.

Officer Reef responded to Mercy Hospital for a verbal disturbance.

Cpl Roberts responded to E. Third St. for an animal complaint. The caller stated that her neighbor had tried to steal her dog. 

July 4

Cpl. Roberts responded to W. US 60 near Smith’s Flooring for an individual and dog lying beside the road. The individual advised they were walking to Springfield and took a break.

Cpl. Roberts responded to the intersection of 60 Hwy and Pine St. for a disabled vehicle. The Fire Department arrived and moved the vehicle from the road.

Officer Reef responded to a report of an individual yelling and cursing. The subject left the area.

July 5

Asst. Chief Schwien spoke to a parent regarding a juvenile striking her child.

July 6

Officer Combs contacted a subject sleeping in the park after hours. 

Asst. Chief Schwien spoke with an individual stating someone attempted to lure their partner into a vehicle, possibly to harm them.
