Incidents
October 25
A 19-year-old female was reported as a missing person. The investigation is ongoing. 
Suspected illegal narcotics were in a vehicle during a traffic stop near Creamery Road and Stewart Street. The driver is awaiting charges, based on the results of lab testing that was conducted on the substance. 
A burglary was reported at a residence on County Road 6070. The investigation continues. 
Officers responded to a business on the 400 block of Washington in reference to a female employee embezzling money from the company. The investigation continues. 
Contact was made with a male subject who had an active warrant. The man was taken into custody. 
A library employee reported the theft of library materials. Charges are pending. 
A woman reported that she had been assaulted by her neighbor on Simpson. The suspect could not immediately be located. 
Property was reported stolen from the maintenance shed at the West Plains Municipal Golf Course. A report was taken. 
Two dogs were reported running loose in the area of Kentucky and Broadway. One of the dogs was captured by using a tranquilizing dart. The second dog could not be located. The captured dog was turned over to animal control.  
October 26
A wallet was found near West Plains High School. The wallet was placed into evidence for safekeeping. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on North Howell. A female subject stated that there was a male subject that she wanted removed from her residence. 
Controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were located in a vehicle during a traffic stop on Porter Wagoner Boulevard. 
A male subject reported that his juvenile son had stolen a large amount of cash from him. The investigation is ongoing. 
October 27
A female subject with an active warrant was taken into custody in the lobby of the West Plains Police Department. 
An assault was reported at Casey’s on Gibson. The female assailant, who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. 
October 28
A suicidal female was reported making threatening statements to others at a business on Lanton Road. The woman was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. 
A disturbance was reported at a residence on Lincoln Avenue. A female subject reported that another woman had kicked open her door and was yelling at her boyfriend. No charges are being filed. 
A driver was cited during a traffic stop on Broadway for driving while revoked/suspended. 
A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence on Lanton Road. 
October 29
Charges are being sought in an assault on the 400 block of West Broadway. A man reported that he was punched in the back by another male. 
October 30
A man was taken into custody at the Texas County Sheriff’s Department on eight West Plains warrants. 
A traffic stop was conducted near Trish Knight and Saint Louis Street. The driver was issued citations for driving while revoked/suspended, failure to maintain financial responsibility and expired registration. 
A hit-and-run accident was reported on Cole Street. 
A female with active arrest warrants was taken into custody in the Southern Hills Shopping area. 
A man who was making suicidal and homicidal statements at a residence on Thornburgh was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. 
October 31
A male subject with an active warrant was taken into custody on Gibson Avenue. 
Property damage was reported at a residence on South Howell. 
A report of stealing was reported on the 200 block of East Main. The investigation continues. 
An intoxicated man was reportedly harassing customers at a business on the 500 block of Porter Wagoner. The man became combative when an officer tried to speak to him, and was taken into custody. The man was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of injuries. Charges are pending. 
Found property was reported on Independence. 
A deceased elderly female was reported on Gleghorn. 
Found property was located on Girdley and Old Airport Road. The item was placed in to evidence for safekeeping. 
November 1
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on Nichols Drive. The incident is under investigation. 
A verbal domestic was reported at a residence on Johnson. One male subject was taken to Ozarks Healthcare after making statements suggesting self harm. 
An abandoned vehicle was reported on Kissinger. The vehicle was towed from the scene. 
A suspicious male subject was reported near Ruby Tuesday. Contact was made with the male, who had active arrest warrants. The man was taken into custody. 
Contact was made with a female subject at the West Plains High School parking lot who appeared to be having a mental health crisis. The woman was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. 
November 2
A burglary in progress was reported on Porter Wagoner. The male suspect resisted arrest after he had trespassed and damaged property. Charges are pending. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on West 7th Street. A male suspect was taken into custody. Charges are pending. 
A woman reported that she had found an arrow stuck in her shed on Terra. She did not wish to pursue charges. 
A vehicle was reported with a missing axle, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Ramseur Road. The female driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while suspended. 
Found property was located on Olden. The item was placed in evidence for safekeeping. 
Information was forwarded to the West Plains Police Department from Tennessee authorities, regarding a sexual offense with a juvenile that had occurred in West Plains. The investigation is ongoing. 
An EBT card was reported stolen. The investigation continues. 
A driver was arrested during a traffic stop on Broadway. The driver was found to have an active warrant out of Willow Springs. 
A citation for driving while revoked/suspended was issued during a traffic stop on Jan Howard Expressway. The driver was released at the traffic stop. 
November 3
A resident on Utah reported fraudulent activity. A report was taken, and the case remains open. 
A juvenile was taken into custody by juvenile authorities after a parent reported that the teen had stolen $1800 from them in the previous week. 
A driver was issued a citation for driving while revoked/suspended during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 63. 
A slashed tire was reported on Thayer Avenue. The investigation continues. 
A suspicious male was reported near Don’s Goodyear on Porter Wagoner. A report was taken. 
A theft was reported in the 1300 block of Preacher Roe. 
November 4
A woman reported that she has been unsuccessful in getting back a $750 deposit she made on two puppies from an online dog retailer. The woman stated that the seller became uncooperative and elusive after she made the deposit. 
An electronic tablet was found on Kentucky. The tablet was placed in evidence for safekeeping. 
A well-being check was conducted for a female on Jefferson. The woman was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. 
November 5
A burglary was reported on the 500 block of Joe Jones Boulevard. A door was damaged when someone tried to make entry to the home. The matter is under investigation. 
November 6
Three people were arrested in a traffic stop on Preacher Roe. Contraband and narcotics were found inside the vehicle. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Grace Avenue for a vehicle not displaying state license plates. 
A male was arrested at Ozarks Healthcare on active warrants. 
An unknown suspect broke into two vehicles and stole several items at Pleasant View Nursing Home. The investigation is ongoing. 
A report of harassment was received. 
November 7
A male subject was arrested on Utah for an active warrant. The man was taken to the West Plains Jail. 
A report was received of a possible sexual assault. No further action was taken by the department, due to United States Army protocol. 
A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence on Lanton Road. The investigation continues. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on Lanton Road. A male subject faces charges of third-degree domestic assault. 
An assault in progress was reported on Howard. Contact was made with two males that had been assaulted. The suspect was located and taken into custody. Charges are pending.
