January 17
Property damage was reported at Steak N’ Shake. A driver opened a car door, striking the reporting party’s vehicle twice, before leaving the parking lot and heading toward Walmart. The incident is under investigation.
A possibly intoxicated male subject was reported near Porter Wagoner Boulevard and Broadway. Contact was made with the made, and it was determined that he had an active warrant out of Montgomery County. The male was taken into custody.
January 18
Property damage was reported at 14 Junction Truck Stop. No suspect has been identified.
A trailer was reported stolen in the 700 block of Shuttee. The remains open and active.
Drug paraphernalia was found inside a vehicle that was turned in to Heights Finance. The items were collected and placed into evidence for destruction.
Found property was reported on Arkansas Street. The items were collected and placed in safekeeping.
Medication was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle. A suspect has not been identified. A report was completed.
Several items were reported stolen from a storage unit on Bratton Avenue. A report was completed, and there is no known suspect.
An inmate attempted to hang himself at the city jail. An officer was able to get the inmate out of the cell and on to a booking bench without issue. The inmate was placed on a suicide watch.
An unresponsive male subject was reported at a residence on Leyda. The male was later treated by emergency medical personnel for an apparent drug overdose.
January 19
A report of property damage and theft was received from the Casey’s on Saint Louis Street. A report was taken.
Ramey Supermarket reported shoplifting that was not in progress. Suspects in multiple shoplifting incidents were identified and issued a court date.
City nuisance violations were reported on a property on the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue. A report was completed and sent to the municipal prosecutor for review.
A male subject was taken into custody at the probation and parole office on active warrants.
A lost or stolen dealer license plate was reported at South 63 Motors. The plate had fallen off a vehicle while in transit.
A two-vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and Broadway. One involved vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived. The suspect has not been identified. A report was completed.
An assault was reported at a gas station on Porter Wagoner Boulevard. Upon arrival, it was discovered that no assault had occurred, and that the disturbance was verbal only. A report was completed.
January 20
A male subject was taken into custody at the probation and parole office on active warrants from another law enforcement agency.
A male subject was taken into custody at the West Plains Municipal Courthouse on an active warrant.
A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle on Newton. No suspect has been identified.
A two-vehicle accident near Shoe Sensation in Southern Hills. A female suspect was taken into custody at the seven on active warrants. Citations were also issued.
Items were reported stolen from storage units at Ajax Storage on Washington Avenue. During an investigation of the incident, items were recovered from two separate burglaries at the storage facility. Charges have been forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor.
Controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were found by a K9 officer during a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Bill Virdon. Both subjects in the car were Aiken into custody.
January 21
An injured deer was reported in the roadway on Siloam Springs Road. The animal was removed from the roadway.
January 22
A loose dog was reported on Kentucky Avenue. The animal was taken to the animal control facility, and the owner was issued a summons.
Formal charges are pending for the suspect in a theft at a business in the 1300 block of Preacher Roe Boulevard.
A deceased male subject was reported in the 400 block of Aid Avenue. No foul play is suspected.
A child was located inside a locked vehicle that was not running at the Walmart parking lot. The temperature at the time was below freezing. The person in custody of the child was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant. Formal charges are pending for child endangerment.
