Incidents
February 7
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 800 block of Missouri Avenue. A male and female had gotten into a physical altercation. Charges were sent to the County Prosecutor. 
A male subject was arrested on active warrants and taken to the city jail. 
A business in the Parkway Shopping Center reported a theft. A summons was sent to the suspect to appear in court. 
A resident on Lanton Road reported that his wallet was taken by someone known to him. The incident remains open and under investigation. 
A domestic disturbance was reported in the area of U.S. Highway 63 and Sunset Terrace. A male and female were having an argument while driving down the highway. 
A report of harassment and stealing was received. The victim had $100 taken from her account after someone took her debit card information. A possible suspect was identified, and the investigation continues. 
A suicidal male subject was reported on Hubert Redburn Drive. The male was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. 
Found property was turned in at the West Plains Police Department. A report was completed regarding the incident. 
February 8
A suspicious subject was reported on Jackson Street. Contact was made with the male, and he was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. 
A dog was found on Bill Virdon Boulevard that had been hit by a vehicle. The dog was taken to a local vet to be euthanized, due to its injuries. 
Information was received that a felon on probation had taken a firearm to a local pawn shop. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for unlawful possession of a firearm. 
February 9
A victim of a scam reported losing $20,000 to the suspect who conducted the scam. The case is open and under investigation. 
A court order of protection was violated on the 3000 block of Edwards. A report was taken, and charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
A woman reported that someone had stolen her wallet while she was at work, resulting in activity on the woman’s credit and debit cards. The matter remains open and under investigation. 
A safe that contained money was reported stolen from a residence on Thornburgh. A report was completed. 
Trespassers were reported at a vacant house on Garfield. Contact was made with the individuals inside the vacant house, and warnings were issued for trespassing. 
A report of trespassing and assault was received on South Hill. A male subject was assaulted, and both individuals were arrested on active warrants. 
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office requested that digital forensics be conducted on cellular devices as part of an investigation. 
Found property was turned in at the police department. Officers took possession of the property and placed it in evidence for destruction. 
A male subject was taken into custody on active warrants during a traffic stop on Preacher Roe Boulevard. 
An assault was reported near the intersection of Thornburgh and Jackson. The victim was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. The suspect was taken into custody on a charge of second-degree assault. 
A court order violation was reported on Washington Avenue. A suspect was identified, and a probable cause statement was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
February 10
A female subject was taken into custody on an active warrant without incident. 
A burglary was reported on College Street. It was later determined that the items that were believed to have been stolen were just misplaced. 
A woman reported that $200 had been stolen from her bank account. The incident is under investigation. 
The owner of two loose dogs was issued a summons after the animals were found near the West Plains Public Library. 
A female employee at Walmart was reported to have taken several food items from the store without paying for them. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor for review. 
A female subject reported receiving a suspicious package. 
Found property was turned in at the police department and was placed into evidence for safekeeping. 
A harassment complaint was received from a residence on Lynn Drive. The male subject agreed to leave the residence for the night, knowing he could return in the morning until an eviction notice was served.
A vehicle was reported stolen on Lanton Road. The case remains open, pending further investigation. 
Merchandise was reported stolen from Walmart. The case is under investigation. 
February 11
A woman came to the police department to discuss child custody. A report was taken. 
Officers were dispatched to an assault in the parking lot of Aldi. A report was taken. 
A male subject came to the police department to report fraud on his unemployment account. A report was completed. 
A suicidal female was reported on the 300 block of 3rd Street. The woman was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. 
A theft was reported at the Ozarks Healthcare Thrift Store. 
The mother of a juvenile victim in an assault called to report the incident. The matter was forwarded to the juvenile office for further investigation. 
A business owner reported that a former employee cashed a paycheck multiple times. The matter is under investigation. 
A business owner reported having fraudulent checks signed in his name. The checks were turned over to the detectives Division. 
February 12
An assault was reported on the 900 block of Utah. Neither subject involved in the alleged incident would cooperate or give statements of what had occurred. 
February 13
An ex-parte was violated on the 1200 block of Missouri. It was reported that the male subject who was ordered to not go to the residence had been at the residence. 
A male subject was placed on a mental health hold after reportedly knocking on the door of a residence on Dana. The man would not the leave the residence when told to do so. 
A 15-year-old female was reported as a runaway. The girl left her residence on Lanton Road and was entered into the MULES database as a runaway. 
February 14
A woman called to reported threats being made to another individual. A report was taken, and the case remains under investigation. 
Prank 911 calls were being received from a cell phone on the West Plains High School campus. The caller was not located. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on Lanton Road. A theft was also reported at the residence. The involved parties agreed to separate for the night. 
A drug overdose was reported on Leyda. Care was provided to the subject. 
February 15
A domestic disturbance was reported on Burke Avenue. A male was arrested at the scene for third degree assault. 
A report was received of a juvenile male sending inappropriate images to a juvenile female. The incident is under investigation. 
A juvenile male allegedly assaulted another juvenile male on Olden. The case is still under investigation. 
A nuisance order violation was reported on Olive Street. 
A 71-year-old male was reported deceased at a residence on Maple. The man is believed to have died from natural causes. 
A suspicious male was reported at a residence on Dana Drive. The man was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment after making statements of self-harm. 
The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force assisted in an investigation of child enticement. The victim resides in Willow Springs. 
Multiple items were reported stolen from Steel City Motors. The investigation continues. 
An alarm sounded at the West Plains Opera House. No items were found to be stolen or damaged. 
February 16
A male and female subject were arrested on active warrants at a residence on Joe Jones Boulevard. 
A male with active warrants was taken to Ozarks Healthcare, after being found unresponsive at a residence on Garfield. 
A hit-and-run accident was reported in the parking lot at 181 Kentucky. The investigation continues. 
A bicycle was reported found on West 8th Street. 
A male subject came to the police department to report being threatened. A report was taken.  
The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force received a tip of a possible image of child pornography. The suspect is believed to reside in Douglas County. 
February 17
A woman reported that her wallet had been stolen somewhere near the downtown square in West Plains. 
Counterfeit currency was reported at Casey’s on Gibson. The matter is under investigation. 
Ozark Action reported that someone stole the license plates from a vehicle. 
A report of child abuse was received on 4th Street. The father of the child had reportedly spanked the child for getting in trouble at school, leaving a bruise on the child’s right thigh. A report was completed. 
A physical altercation was reported near the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Broadway. Afterward, both parties left the scene, with one vehicle pursuing the other. One of the parties was identified, and a report was taken. 
A driver was cited for driving while suspended on U.S. Highway 63 near Creamery Road. 
February 18
A male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on State Route CC. 
A hit-and-run accident was reported on Kissinger. The matter remains under investigation. 
A female subject was arrested on an active warrant after causing a disturbance at a business on Missouri Avenue. 
Counterfeit currency was discovered at a business on Broadway. The matter is under investigation. 
The West Plains Public Library reported individuals who had detained library material. The information was sent to the municipal prosecutor.  
A domestic assault was reported on Utah. Due to an uncooperative victim, no charges were filed. 
February 19
A female subject was taken into custody on active warrants, following a two-vehicle accident on Porter Wagoner. 
A woman was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm, following a disturbance at the storage units on Palmer Street. Formal charges are being sought. 
A passenger in a vehicle was arrested on an active warrant, during a routine traffic stop on Lanton Road. 
February 20
A driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, during a traffic stop on Ramseur Road near Preacher Roe. 
West Plains Motel reported that someone was trying to force entry to a room by breaking the door frame. A probable cause statement was sent to the city court for review. 
A male subject was taken into custody on active warrants, after being found unconscious in the cab of a pickup on Pearl.  
A woman reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle. The matter is under investigation. 
A well-being check was requested for a juvenile at a residence on State Route K. 
February 21
A hit-and-run accident was reported on Trish Knight. The case is under investigation. 
A bicycle was found on West 2nd Street.  The bike was placed in evidence for safekeeping. 
A domestic assault was reported on Lanton Road. The male suspect had fled the scene. The female victim was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of injuries to her head and leg. 
A male subject reported that someone he knows has been stealing money from his debit card. 
February 22
A suspicious vehicle was reported on Worel. Contact was made with the occupants, and one person was taken into custody on an active warrant from Willow Springs. 
A vehicle was damaged while parked in the parking lot on the corner of 7th street and Alaska. A suspect has not been identified. 
A female subject was taken into custody on an active warrant at the probation and parole office. 
A hit-and-run accident was reported near the intersection of Business 63 and Missouri Avenue. An elderly female reportedly rear-ended another vehicle, causing damage, and then left the scene. 
Parents of a juvenile female reported that they had discovered inappropriate material sent from their daughter’s phone to someone in Illinois via social media. 
Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet reported that someone used fraudulent identification in an attempt to purchase a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. 
A woman reported that she had located her lost dog at a residence on Maple. The dog was determined to belong to the woman and was returned to her. 
A hit-and-run accident was reported on Greenbriar. A report was taken. 
A fight was reported between two males on Burke Avenue. The men were detained, and neither wished to pursue charges. 
February 23
An employee’s cell phone was reported stolen at Ramey Supermarket. The case remains under investigation. 
Property damage was reported at a residence on West 3rd Street. The incident is under investigation. 
February 24
A nuisance violation was reported at a residence on Lincoln Avenue. A complaint was onward to the municipal prosecutor. 
A woman reported that a male subject came into her home without her permission. The male subject was later located, and charges were filed. 
A man reported that he purchased a chainsaw at a pawn shop that had been stolen. 
February 25
Narcotics were seized on location at Ozarks Healthcare. The narcotics were destroyed. 
The manager of Ramey Supermarket reported that three females had stolen items from the store. The case is under investigation. 
Pills and drug paraphernalia were found. All items were placed into evidence. 
Walmart reported stealing not in progress. The incident was forwarded to the detectives’ division.  
February 26
A dog bite was reported on Olden. 
February 27
Found property was located on Worcester. The property was collected for disposal. 
Several items were reported stolen from a business on Myrtle. The case is under investigation. 
A shoplifter was caught stealing at Walmart. The suspect was given a citation for stealing and was trespassed from the store.
