Incidents
July 1
A woman reported that her wallet was stolen while she was shopping at Walmart. The incident remains under investigation as of report time. 
A woman reported that a check had been mailed to her, but she was informed that the check had already been cashed. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Creamery Road. The driver was found to have a revoked license and was also cited for no proof of insurance. 
Officers were dispatched to a theft report in the 700 block of Kentucky. Several items were reported stolen by an unknown suspect. 
A traffic stop was initiated after a driver was seen driving with only one headlight. Shortly afterward, the same driver accelerated past another vehicle by driving in the turning lane. The driver was taken into custody without incident. 
July 2
A male subject faces a third-degree domestic assault charge after allegedly slapping his girlfriend. Officers had previously been called to the residence on Missouri Avenue for the male subject having mental issues. The man was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for those mental issues. 
A report of assault and stealing was received from Dollar General on Bill Virdon Boulevard. Charges were filed against the suspect. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Saint Louis Street for a seatbelt violation. Upon further investigation, it was found that the driver had a suspended license and no proof of insurance. The driver received a citation for each offense. 
A domestic incident was reported on Rader Drive. A woman reported that her husband, from whom she is separated, pulled up next to her and pointed a firearm at her while she was inside of her vehicle. The husband was arrested, and charges are being sought. 
A traffic stop was initiated on Preacher Roe after a driver was seen not wearing a seatbelt and failed to maintain the right side of the roadway while driving. The stop resulted in the driver being cited for a seatbelt violation and for driving while revoked. 
A revoked driver was seen driving on Garrett. The driver was arrested and released with a citation. 
A suspect in the violation of a court order of protection was interviewed at the police department. It was determined that the suspect had violated the court order, and a probable cause statement was forwarded to the county prosecutor. 
Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Lincoln to assist with a fire call. An intoxicated male subject was cooking and nearly set fire to his kitchen. No charges are being sought. 
July 3
A female subject with an active warrant was seen driving near Porter Wagoner and Girdley. The woman was stopped, the active warrant was confirmed, and the woman was taken into custody on the warrant, as well as driving while suspended.  
A found debit card was turned in to the police department. The card was found near wp Bank on Porter Wagoner. 
Assistance was given to the Missouri State Highway Patrol with an incident on State Route BB. A female suspect was transported to the Howell County Jail.
Contact was made with a male subject with an active warrant on Lanton Road. The male was taken into custody without incident. 
A male subject, known to have active warrants, was observed on U.S. Highway 160. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the West Plains Jail. 
Officer Kevin White was dispatched to a burglary in progress on Thayer Avenue. A male subject had walked into a home and then back out into the yard. The man was arrested and was issued a summons for trespassing. 
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Kentucky for a report of an assault. The victim stated that a coworker had attempted to assault her. The case remains under investigation. 
A traffic stop led to an arrest on Porter Wagoner. The driver of the vehicle was found to be driving while revoked. 
Contact was made with a female subject, known to have active warrants, on Llama Drive. The female was arrested and was released to the custody of the jail. 
A woman was arrested on multiple active warrants, after being seen walking on Broadway. The woman was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Porter Wagoner. The driver was cited for driving while suspended. 
Suspicious subjects were reported in the 1300 block of Porter Wagoner. One of the subjects was found to have an active warrant and was taken into custody. 
A suspicious subject was reported in the area of Oak Lawn Cemetery. The woman was found to have multiple active warrants and was taken into custody. 
A driver was stopped on Saint Louis Street for a lighting violation. The driver was cited for not having a valid operator license. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 600 block of Shuttee. Neither party was injured or wished to pursue charges. 
Contact was made with a male juvenile who admitted to stealing items from several parked cars. The male was turned over to juvenile authorities. 
An elderly man was reported walking in the roadway near Christopher and State Route CC. The man was found to have an altered mental status and was taken to Ozarks Healthcare. 
A resident on 7th Street report a theft. A suspect has been identified, and the investigation continues. 
A theft was reported on the 1000 block of 8th Street. There are no known suspects, and the investigation continues. 
A wallet, which was found on the 1400 block of Mitchell was turned in to the police department. 
A subject was booked into the city jail on active warrants. 
A domestic disturbance was reported along the roadside on Porter Wagoner. The case was closed due to an uncooperative victim. 
A domestic violence incident was reported on the 1100 block of Kentucky. There was a verbal argument between to adults with a child in common. 
Howell County deputies arrested a male subject with active West Plains warrants. The man was transported to the city jail. 
A traffic stop was conducted near Sunset Terrace and U.S. Highway 63. The driver was found to have an active warrant and was taken into custody. 
A courtesy transport was requested for a female subject on Air Medical Drive. Upon contact with the woman, it was learned that she had active warrants out of Perryville, Missouri. The woman was transported to the Howell County Jail, awaiting extradition. 
A one vehicle accident was reported near Worcester and Cherry. The male driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. 
July 5
Contact was made with a male subject at Galloway Park, in reference to reckless driving. The man was found to be intoxicated and resisted arrest. The man was taken into custody on multiple charges. 
An officer was dispatched to the Ozarks Healthcare emergency room for an agency assist. Thayer Police had requested information regarding an assault. 
A suspicious female was reported on the 2000 block of East State Route K. The woman was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and also had an altered mental status. The woman was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of her mental status.  
A theft from a vehicle was reported on the 800 block of 1st Street. 
Property Damage was reported at the James Monroe Memorial Park on State Route BB. The toilet in the men’s and women’s bathrooms were found to be broken. The incident remains under investigation. 
A vehicle was reported blocking the alley between 5th and 6th Street. The owner of the vehicle moved it to open up the alley. 
A blue and white bicycle was found at Casey’s on Gibson. The bicycle was taken to the police department. 
Two bicycles were found on Missouri Avenue and were taken to the police department for safekeeping. 
A complaint was received about fireworks being set off on the 1400 block of Washington. A male subject was issued a citation for the fireworks. 
An altercation between two male subjects was reported at Captain D’s. A report was taken. 
An assault occurred at Sonic. The victim sustained minor injuries. The suspect was taken into custody for third degree assault. 
July 6
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with information on an active investigation. 
A male subject using fake credit cards purchased several thousands of dollars’ worth of toners from an office supply company on Broadway. A report was completed and sent to the detectives’ division for further investigation. 
Contact was made with a male subject who had an active warrant. The man was placed into custody and posted bond. No charges are pending. 
A Koshkonong man was taken into custody on an active warrant. The man was unable to post bond and was booked into the West Plains jail. 
An assault was reported on the 700 block of West Main. None of the involved parties wished to pursue charges. 
A male subject was reportedly making death threats to a female subject on the 2000 block of State Route K. Charges are being sought. 
An individual came to the police department to report the violation of a court order of protection. It was determined that no violation had taken place. 
July 7
A traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and State Route 17. The driver was issued a citation for driving while suspended. 
A woman reported that her wallet had been stolen from her vehicle. The incident took place on the 1300 block of Garrett. 
A female came to the police department to speak with an officer about an online issue. A report was taken. 
A search warrant was conducted at a residence on the 1200 block of Lanton Road, concerning the sexual exploitation of children. Digital storage devices were seized as part of the investigation. Charges are pending upon the completion of digital forensics. 
A resident of Walnut Grove Apartments reported a lost wallet. A report was taken. 
A search warrant was conducted on the 400 block of South Hill, concerning the sexual exploitation of children. Charges are pending upon the completion of forensics on digital storage devices that were seized from the residence. 
A death investigation was conducted at a home on the 1000 block of Davidson. The cause of death was determined to be from natural causes. 
A burglary was reported on the 1000 block of Lincoln. Evidence was collected, and a list of the stolen items was completed. The investigation continues. 
An incident was investigated on the 500 block of Joe Jones Boulevard. The Children’s Division was contacted to assist. The matter remains under further investigation. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 2400 block of McFarland Drive. A male and female reportedly engaged in a physical altercation. Neither had any visible injuries, and both declined medical treatment. 
A motorcycle rider fled from an attempted traffic stop on U.S. Highway 63, near Wayhaven Drive. The rider was identified, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. 
A building alarm was activated at the West Plains Civic Center. Upon law enforcement arrival, two juveniles were discovered in the building. The pair fled from officers but were apprehended a short time later and arrested. Formal charges of trespassing and resisting arrest are pending through the juvenile court. 
A vehicle was reported to have left the roadway on Worel. Contact was made with the female driver, and she was arrested for driving while intoxicated. 
July 8
A traffic stop was initiated on the 800 block of Saint Louis Street. The driver was issued multiple citations after marijuana was found in the vehicle. 
A controlled substance was found in a vehicle during a traffic stop on the 800 block of Missouri. The substance was collected and sent to the state crime lab for analysis. Charges against the driver are pending. 
A catalytic converter was reported stolen on the 1300 block of Mitchell. The case is under investigation. 
A man faces charges after brandishing a machete during a confrontation. After stealing a valve stem cap off of a pickup, the suspect pulled the weapon from the waist of his pants, when confronted. The suspect took several swings at the victim before he fled into a residence on Dixon Street, and the out of a kitchen window. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Catalpa after a driver failed to use a turn signal. The driver was arrested for driving while revoked and a felony Howell County warrant. 
Tools and model cars were reported stolen from a building on Braxton Avenue. No suspect has been identified in the break-in. 
A hit and run accident was reported in the Walmart parking lot. No charges were filed due to the victim declining charges. 
Three rocks were thrown into windows of a house on the 1000 block of 1st Street. The unknown suspect caused approximately $600 in damage. 
Trespassers were reported at a building on Lincoln Avenue. All suspects were gone on arrival of law enforcement. A report was completed. 
July 9
During the investigation of a report of attempted theft on State Route K, a male subject was found to have an active warrant out of Texas County. The male was taken into custody. 
A screaming woman was reported on the 500 block of Porter Wagoner. A male suspect in an assault was taken into custody. 
Contact was made with a male subject known to have an active warrant on 8th Street. The man was taken into custody. 
Property damage was reported at a building on the 1100 block of Broadway. An unknown suspect spray painted the building. 
A traffic stop Willow Springs conducted on Broadway, near Garfield. The driver was cited for failing to comply with ignition interlock requirements, no proof of insurance, driving while suspended and failing to stop at a red light. 
A deceased female was reported at a residence on Lambert Lane. The woman is believed to have died from natural causes. 
A male subject reported damage to his car, after an attempt to steal his car stereo. The man reported that a door lock and the dash of the vehicle were damaged. The incident occurred on the 1700 block of Porter Wagoner. 
July 10
A wallet was found lying in the roadway on Holiday Lane. The wallet was turned in to the police department. 
Several items were reported stolen from a residence on the 800 block of Missouri. The investigation continues. 
A Reese hitch was reported stolen from a vehicle on Preacher Roe. The case is inactive, due to lack of evidence. 
A party involved in a minor traffic accident on State Route K was cited for having a blank operator license. No one was injured in the accident. 
Strong wind blew open a door at a business in the Southern Hills Center, triggering an alarm. The business and the door were secured. 
Two vehicles were damaged when a dumpster rolled down Washington Avenue, striking both of the vehicles. 
A runaway juvenile was reported on Amyx. The juvenile was entered as a missing person. 
July 11
Property damage was reported at a residence on the 400 block of Maple. A suspect was identified, and the investigation continues. 
Three runaway juveniles were reported at a facility on Division Drive. The juveniles reportedly stated that they would not return. The matter is under investigation. 
A subject reported that their car had been hit by another vehicle while it was parked in the Walmart parking lot. A report was taken. 
Theft was reported on the 700 block of Washington. The suspects were located and issued citations. 
A suicidal female was reported at a residence on Howard Avenue. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. 
Two juveniles at the Adolescent Rise Rehabilitation Facility were reported as runaways. The pair were located a short time later. 
July 12
A firearm was reported stolen from a vehicle on Renfrow. The investigation continues. 
Items were reported stolen from a vehicle on South Harlin. The matter remains under investigation. 
Theft was reported at Ozarks Christian Academy. A report was taken, and the investigation was. 
A loose dog was reported on the 1400 block of 5th Street. The owner of the dog was issued a written complaint. 
Theft from a vehicle was reported on Haynes Street. The investigation continues. 
A 55-year-old female was bitten by a dog at a residence on Caldwell. Medical treatment was sought for the woman. The case is under investigation. 
A suspect was identified in a theft from a business on the 1300 block of Preacher Roe. Charges are being sought.
July 13 
A verbal domestic disturbance was reported on Thayer Avenue. The female party in the incident was arrested on an active warrant. 
A driver was arrested during a traffic stop on Broadway. The male subject was found to have an active felony warrant. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on Lynn Drive. A vehicle was also damaged during the incident. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
July 14
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle at Buddy’s Home Furnishings. The matter is under investigation. 
A wallet was found on the 3100 block of Ridgewood. The wallet was taken to the police department. 
A business in the Southern Hills Shopping Center reported that a female subject left with merchandise that she did not pay for. The incident is being investigated. 
The Child Advocacy Center requested assistance with an incident that occurred in Texas County. A report was completed. 
Officers were dispatched to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter. The case remains under investigation. 
Officers were dispatched to the Get & Go convenience store for a disturbance. A female subject with active warrants was arrested at the scene. 
A domestic disturbance was reported in the area of Jackson and Davis Street. While it was determined tat an assault had occurred, the female victim did not wish to pursue charges. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
Officers responded to West Plains Motel for a report of someone fraudulently using a credit card. A male subject reported that his wallet had been stolen, and that someone was using his credit card. The matter remains under investigation. 
A suspicious male was reported at Butler Children’s Park. Contact was made with the male, and drug paraphernalia was found. The male was transported to Ozarks Healthcare. No charges are pending. 
A two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Thornburg and Garfield. One vehicle left the scene of the accident. 
A caller on Luna Drive reported a female at their residence in an altered state. The woman, who had warrants from West Plains and Mountain View, was transported to Ozarks Healthcare. After she was released from the hospital, the woman was transported to the West Plains Police Department. 
July 15
Contact was made with a female subject with an active warrant on Howell Avenue. The woman was taken into custody. 
Property damage was reported on the 1100 block of Broadway. Someone painted on two tables under a pavilion. 
A woman on the 1900 block of Meadow reported that a package she received did not contain the items she ordered. The woman reported that her package contained a bag of candy. The investigation continues. 
A man reported that someone stole cash and a handgun from his vehicle while it was parked on the 400 block of Abe Taylor. 
A woman reported that the back glass was broken out of her friend’s vehicle while it was parked at her residence on Lanton Road. 
A bicycle was reported stolen on the 700 block of Worcester. The case is under investigation. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Old Airport Road for a vehicle without state registration. The driver was also cited for no valid operator license. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 1100 block of Garfield. A male juvenile had reportedly assaulted his father. The victim refused medical treatment. 
July 16
Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Saint Louis Street. The vehicle had left the roadway and struck several items. The driver was transported from the scene by EMS, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. 
A traffic stop was initiated on Freedom Drive. The driver was arrested for driving while suspended. Two passengers were also arrested on active warrants. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle. Charges are pending. 
A stolen vehicle was reported at Snappy Mart 51 on U.S. Highway 63. The victim reported that the vehicle had been parked there for several days, and when he returned, it was gone. The investigation continues.
